Non Rev Travel: By Seniority- Merged Topics

I agree. I'm active and 31 years, but would gladly defer to a retiree with more time than me. You paid your dues and spouses should be treated the same as employees. It's the right thing to do.

Just my humble opinion....

Well thank GOD that was not done. After Share holders and Customers, Employees should certianly be next in any companies priorities. By putting Family members and Retirees ahead is actual dissing your current work force. Does that make any sense? I bet you can't find an example of any other industry in the world that would do something like that. Could you imagine Sears giving retirees 25% discounts but current workers 10%? It is just dumb and bad business, the only justification is it was always doen that way but tha is not good enough.

Thank You for that! You put a new perspective on this whole issue. You are Active w/31 years! I am Retired w/28 yrs. of service, but with a DOH of 1967. You "would gladly defer to a Retiree w/more time than me" (Bravo for you)! So you are referring to someone with more Active Years?? Interesting concept!

Heard the FAA nixed that idea.
All I can say is that America West Employee moral dropped to a record all time low. I do not think I have ever seen the moral in the lows like today... minus the FRANKE DAYS... . ...: shock: . Lets just say... hum.. : blink: LAS/PHX is still in shell shock…. While many east employees danced in the streets.

First it was Mayo Insurance
Second it was Bankruptcy
Third it was 9/11
Four it was our Name (America West Airlines)
Fifth it was our Seniority
Sixth it was NO COST CONTRACTS
Seventh: it was Non-Revving policy changes.

When does it end?

Sthrnboy and all Westies,

We at East have had similar changes and uncertainties, so I can absolutely relate.

I have to tell you, you are really not going to notice that much of a difference with this boarding priority! I only have ~11 years (which is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING), and I really have not had that much trouble travelling, ever. If the flight is looking full, or oversold, you may or may not get on. That will remain the same! I have never seen senior people run up at the last minute and bump me. When our senior people get a seat before me, they make sure that flight does not leave with an open seat. It is really quite civilized.

I know it is a huge, frightening change, and as time goes on, you really will not see a huge difference. Chaos will not ensue, I assure you. I know you don't want to hear stuff like this, but it is true. Relax, and give it a chance. Hopefully I'll see some of you on your way to your next vacation!

Integration seems to be picking up speed lately. As I have experienced through 3 airlines and 2 mergers and heaven help me 2 bankrupties? the fear of change declines. I am very much looking forward to the changes that AWA and its culture brings to this company. As a west commuter to the east for 10 years I have seen the arrogance of the east at times, especially? in the early days. However, someone recently told me that the east was "defreaked" after the last round of downsizing and buyouts. After thinking about it for awhile I realized that they were right. I look forward to the changes that AWA brings to the table. These days there are probably more people like you back east than you might expect.

ASTRO LOUNGE..... If you are reading this. I saw this from your other post...

"B*ching Booth where people can come and vent" 😛 We need a few of these put in the PHX/LAS airports T-DAY  ? how much are they running these days....

I know the Non-REV Travel policy is in stone now but this booth would have come in handy today.

P.S. What I worry about is ATL. I commute and would have loved to move to PHL as a base!!! However, I guess that will not be in my future plans.....
I've only seen what some of the ATLANTA Senior Mams do to the young trying to get on a CRJ.... Its like a pack of wolves... They would sell there kids to get on that PSA/MESA flight...

Ultimately I tink you are right all the hand ringing on both sides is overblown I think another key is how/what info you get from the ETC. If I can make an educated decesion as to my chances than that is all I really want.

Oh yeah, I hear ATL is a nightmare, especially at the time of years when it goes to *ALL* RJ service on US East... I know alot of people hop on Airtran. Just move to a base, you won't lose your hair and your mind as quickly. PHL is a rockin' city. Come check it out! Good luck!

It still does not make up for the $16 more per hour the West f/os are making more than me. I bet they have not been here 20 years either.

Scott Kirby said we can have the West's contract tomorrow but we can't cherry pick the best from both.

Take the West's contract or stop whining that they make more.

It's not the West's pilots' fault that we worked for a stagnant, poorly managed company. You could have quit USAir and tried to get a job at AWA anytime from 1985 until last year.

If sweet tea is made I will move in a mili second.. 😀 That is if I can get approved to be in Philly and being that I'm new to US Air Inflight! Five years or so in Philly is not even a speck of dust on the map to the Inflight dept! I make peanuts and eat mac/cheese and hotdogs so not sure if I could afford a pricy rent in Philly, and the cold... sends me shivers....
