Does anyone know how HP's non rev policy works for connections? If an HP employee starts out in BOS and connects via PHX to go to LAX, since he started out at say 7am and got a standby time of 5am, does that 5am time carry him to the top of the list in PHX or since he's connecting, does he go to the bottom since he probably only gets to the gate 45 min befroe departure? WOW, how's THAT for a run on sentence? 🙂

When you check in for the first flight, you are checked in for all flights on the same PNR. You can check in up to 4 hours before the first flight; and HP also has web check-in available (I certainly hope that feature stays after the merger!)

Yes, that would be VERY helpful. Thanks for the answer. I was on the livery flight and no one seemed to really know how it worked.

What if you don't get on the first flight but hop on another airline to make your connection? (say WN)
Do you still keep your check in time for the conncting flight or do you start all over with 30min. to make your flight?
Just wondering.

When you check in on a flt and have a connection in PHX or LAS you are put on the stand-by for PHX or LAS at your originating city, so you would be on the top of the NR list for you connecting flt...however if you don't take the first flt for whatever reason(like taking WN), no your name goes off the NR list in PHX or LAS and you have to check-in again and go on the list whereever you fall....believe me US employees, it's a great system, this is my fourth airline(I'm a hp fa) and this system really works well and is fair to everyone....and I' m a commuter from the east coast based in PHX.

Speaking as the absolute bottom seniority nearly every time I fly, I have to say that it would be hard for me to bump a twenty five (or even ten) year employee because I either came in on an early flight to connect or I showed up 4 hours before the flight. I would prefer to board everyone who showed up at least 30 minutes prior in order of seniority. That way, if I ever get recalled, I can work my way up and with each passing year be more assured that I will get one of a few seats available. As for now, I just don't try unless there are at least 20 seats available.

my two cents,
jm

mainline employees are sa2p and express employees are sa3p so yes mainline employess have priority over express employees....

If you are on the list for say flight 1, and you don't clear the standby list, do you automatically get transfered to the next flight, keeping your check-in time? Or do you go to the bottom of the list for the next flight - according to your new check-in time?

What about us wholy-owned Express guys? Right now I am treated as a mainline USAirways employee and travel as an S3.... I know that Mesa/Chittlepublic guys travel as S5's....

If the standby list is roll over to the next flight then the system automatically uses your original time of check in and slots you accordingly.

The only issue is if you were on a PHX flight and they are all full and you try a LAS flight. You would then go to the time of check-in for the LAS flight, not the original PHX flight.

Hope this helps.

Im with you Taylor. I put in 33 years with crappy days off ( retired with tue/wed off) working holidays, no social life since my shift started at 400am etc with the one thought that when I retired and got another job, when I traveled I would be towards the top and an S3. Now I'm lower than ANY active employee. I guess the thought is, when you retire you have no life and have all the time in the world. 🙂 Not with whats left of our pensions. LOL! Well, nothing I or anyone can do about it but give it a try. We ALL have to be open minded and give everything a try.

So it would behoove you to get on the list for both flights in advance just in case. So much for the arguement that someone said you KNOW IN ADVANCE where you stand on the list.
