What's new

NW outsourced stations

Kev, dumb question who is TBD, are they a contractor ?
Like I said a great station will go down hill now with contractors. Best wishes to all.

Not a dumb question....And, like Don said, TBD= "to be determined."

The sad thing is all of the stations closing have great/experienced people in them. I can't imagine what it's going be like in January after all this is done...

Here's an example: There is a CSA in my station that is still on probation (hired in late summer). He is now in LIT training vendors to the work. He has never done any ticketing, or anything on the ramp, yet will be expected to teach both (LIT currently sees a mix of CRJ's, A320/319's, and DC9's).

As salt in the wound, they gave him a leave of abscence from his current position to do this, but haven't backfilled his spot here, so the counter is just that much shorter for the holiday rush.

I'll bet the auditors at nwa love the new workload.

On a side note, Im told that both safety and cleaning audits have been taken over by Tech Ops.

I don't know wether to  or 🙁 ....

I know one station I "visited" recently... I know the manager very well.

Manager "it" only worked as a gate agent for 2 months before being "laid off".

With the powers bestowed upon thee, "it" was re-hired as a manager.

This neanderthalisque manager "it" likes to boss people around and repremand people and write people up.... then tell them about "it's" past sob story about how NW laid "it" off. (like who cares...... we're all getting laid off or something anyways)

Here we all pulled into station "X". Poor outsourced gate agent was scared to death driving the jetway.

When she opened the door it was more than 2" away from the plane.

The jetbridge was shaking madly. If you looked into it, it reminds you of a carnival funhouse.

Now if the jetbridge is that dangerous.... I sat there thinking did anyone test it out in the morning to make sure it was ok?
Couldn't they have requested to use another jetbridge? That is what I would of done.

I wonder if she was afraid of manager "it". Alot of people were before this stint and use to avoid "it". Manager "it" also didn't know anything at all. Infact they moved manager "it" because it wasn't doing the job properly (I wonder WHY???? MAYBE not enough TIME in the airline INDUSTRY???)

I remember back in the day I ALWAYS tested the jetbridge!

Can't wait until one of these days, a plane rolls in and the jetway tires are all flat.

Not a dumb question....And, like Don said, TBD= "to be determined."

Kev, I would never train my replacements if it were to ever come to that.

Me either!

Don't understand why people do that.

Well, in the example I cited, he honestly thinks it's going to help him "get ahead" here at NW. Also, it pays $1000/week, which is more than he is/was eaning as a CSA.

After that, I'm as baffled as you....

i wouldnt dare to help my replacement we were asked that when we found out we were being outsourced. all but one said NO WAY JOSE to helping our replacements.

There will always be those who think they are being
asked to perform certain functions for a company because
they are more qualified and have more knowledge. In NW
case they will be used and then kicked to the curb like
everyone else.

Don't forget that they all of the sudden have hyper-inflated heads when they get the "calling".... like manager "it".
They are flattered when they are asked to do it for Northwest!

Should be an insult since they usually ask dummies to do it.

Manager "it" is so big you would think "it" ate all the old co workers....

kind of like a start of a scary movie...

Agent walks into a cold and rickety jetbridge... tries to turn on the light.... it don't work....

crawls in.. feeling the walls......

then at the end.....tries to turn on the other light....

Suddenly the jetbridge door whipps wide open!

*psycho music please*

eek eek eek eek

Roooooooaaaaaaah!

at trial, Manager it uses the "Northwest don't pay/feed me enough" defense.
