I'm curious if anyone else has encountered this problem. From my home in Phoenix (on Cox Cable), I can log onto the ETC wirelessly without problem, however, when I visit my parents in Colorado, when I attempt to log onto the ETC wirelessly (Quest DSL), my log on attempt crashes their entire wireless network.
The issue is my Macbook. I can log on with their Dell desktop, but when I attempt it with my mac, bad things happen. This is a fairly recent issue, I did not have the problem three months ago.
Any tips would be appreciated!

Thanks

That's the most stupid thing I have ever heard. Funny, I've been using a Mac for years and I never had any security update. I don't need to but Norton or Kaspersky or any registry cleaner. But this is not a question that compares the advantages of Mac vs PC.
It is possible your browser may be the problem. I have been in areas that have ISP's that won't accept Firefox. I simply switch to Safari and I'm good to go. The ETC supports both formats.

BTW, if you ever have the opportunity to use a Mac, give it a try. Microsoft would not have made Windows 7 so much like Mac OS X if it weren't better.

Thanks. I'll try using a different browser next time. I was using firefox so perhaps that is the issue.

MAC SNOW LEOPARD is very fast. I am also using Windows 7 Professional ( $29.99 Student Discount). I am finding that Firefox crashes on my PC. I find on my MAC Firefox is okay but for most part Safari is best. If you have never had a MAC take the leap and see how computing is so much easier.

If it was about last week or so....and not to get too technical - Firefox was having issues with some microsoft components causing security and vulnerability issues, and system crashes. Mozilla (firefox) came out with a update and so did Microsoft last Tuesday (Patch Tuesday). If you updated the firefox browser and whatever MS OS you are using..... you should be fine. Hope that helps.

I Will Stick to my DELL. Its been 15years and no problems. My friends have MAC and nothing but problems.

She's using a Mac OS X operating system not a Microsoft OS. Anyone who enjoys spending major bucks on 3rd party security update fixes, get a PC. If you want to enjoy a computer right out of the box, get a Mac. The Mac is easier to use and bullet proof. No blue screen of death, no lockups, no 10 minutes to boot up. My Mac boots from the time I turn it on to ready to go, max 20 seconds. Remember, Windows is a program you load to run your computer. Mac OS X is already the OS, not a program that needs to be loaded. The only advantage to a PC is the price. But you get what you pay for. Hmm, Apple iPod...Microsoft Zune. That pretty much says it all.
Go to your local Apple store and try one out. I guarantee, you will use your PC as a doorstop.

I would say that it is their network and settings. I have two Macs, and it does not matter what browser I use, I can get into Wings, theHub etc.

I do have occasional cookie issues in Safari with some banking sites. I do not see how you could crash their network wirelessly.

Is it secure? If not, maybe one of their neighbors has piggy backed, you sign on and overload it.
