What's new

OH, and by the way did you know......

Scott Kirby was made President I guess about 8 months ago or so, still don't know what he looks like. Parker, Kirby etc. will not come to PHL Art, they are terrified because we DON'T drink the Koolaide and cannot be bamboozeled. It's an East thing, well you know, we have good Bull S*%&t detectors!
You're just a moron if you think our CEO or anyone else that high up is to blame for local problems. Sounds like local management to me.

The original post was about PHL.

I guess PHL isn't PHX. Not really an important part of this airline.

More of a local problem no one in PHX should worry about.

Hey Art!

I'm a gate agent in PHL...don't even know what Kirby looks like. Tony Grantham (sp?) is Director in PHL. God, I don't even know how to spell his last name! If you see him on the concourse, which is rare, he just turns his head! The guys from HP are shaking in their boots when it comes to PHL. I've been with US for 25 years...PHL can be easily "fixed" other than ATC delays. Get Sabre back, upgrade the quality of your people with good pay and benefits like when I was hired with, upgrade quality of service to what it used to be.
Like I have always said "Never compromise your product and never lower the bar"!

As I recall PHL was not exactly a crown jewel even when employees had good pay and quality benefits.

It can't be fixed. Kind of like Mrs. Edward's cancer. It will always be there. Can't be cured but can be tolerated with treatment.

Many different "Doctors" have treated Philly in the last 20 years, but no one from Rhoderick to Grantham has been able to cure it.

The only management team that actually raised the bar was Wolf and Gangwal. USAirways was a very good airline under their direction. But ultimately, they were only in it for the short term much like the current caretakers of the USAirways franchise.

It is a local thing. However it is the responsibility of local management to demand what is needed in PHL considering it generated over 40% of total profits for 2006. That place should be flooded with help to make that operation run like clockwork. ATC delays you can't help, wish they would tear the joint down and start new but that ain't happening. Not to beat a dead horse, but we are working one agent per gate. We have 75's 76's and A330's being worked by ONE agent. Under Sabre it could be done and relativley easy but not with Shares. The concourses are too small for the volume of people we handle out of their, however much much more could be done and they ain't doing it

I am not a big fan of them, but you are right..they truley and I do believe this, wanted to bring US Air back to what it was.

Whatever happened to the terminal renovation project announced over a year ago?

Seen the seating at the end of the B and C concourses lately? Looks like the upholstery in the old Lagoon courtesy van. Slashed seats, broken seats.

The new management can't seem to finish one project before launching off on another one. Good thing the Delta deal didn't happen, especially for the Delta folks!

This airline is operating on a shoestring.

Multiple failures due to not spending money on anything.

An airline with billions in liquidity acting like penny loafers will have to be used to survive.

Keep it up and you will need those pennies.

Use some sense now and fix the problems while you can afford to.

PHL will never work because there is an ATC and air space problem. When you look at JFK, LGA,EWR and PHL all sharing the same corridors all is spells is one big fat mess...and what does US do ? It adds even more flights because it is such a huge money maker....so big that people will fly us to get where they need to go but they hate us and don't have a choice.

One way to alleviate some of the problem would be to actually use PIT for some flights again but that's too sensible for any one in management to comrehend. All they see when they look at PHL are $$$ signs. How many more melt downs need to occur before they get a clear picture that the only thing that can be done for US as far as congestion goes would be to reduce the amount of flights that we have connecting through there. Perhaps then our pax might even get to their final destination within a few hours of original ETA or at least get same day service.

I said that over on another post a week ago:

Here is an easy fix/solution to "fixing" Philly.

Why not send all the beloved international flying to PIT, and route most of the flying thru PIT as it is a beautiful airport that is not being utilized like it could be.

Is this one reason the SOC/OCC will soon be located in PIT??

Give the employees an option to step up to the plate and clean up their attitudes and improve the operation in PHL or give them the option of their job in PIT.

Maybe then the company can stop wasting $$ to "FIX" the problem, and pay its employees the wages they deserve. Then, those who deface the property will realize that they are only hurting themselves and their fellow coworkers.

Have I seen them lately..UHHH...worked B-16 the other day and was moving furniture around to make it look..."good".
You are absolutely right...they NEVER finish a project completely. Cleaners there are awful. It has gotten to the point that I clean my own gate areas and jetways because I'M too embarrassed for our pax to see them. We morning agents try to clean the place ourselves but it's hard to do that, meet airplanes, work and flight and then kick them out..........I'M GOING TO HAVE A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN.....AAAAAHHHHH!!! LOL

Hang in there. The morons would consider your breakdown another triumph.

They have so few victories after such a long losing streak.

The defacing, I think, is not done by the employees, at least not in the gate areas. As far as the Delta deal, we all at US Air prayed it would not go thru because we did not want to see these clowns ruin another airline. And you mark my words, PIT will be a player again, but not for awhile. Intl flight out of PIT not a good idea for now because too much local traffic at PHL

It comes down to traffic in the corridor, its just a cluster f*. CO runs in to it at EWR, WN at BWI to an extent. Move some of the flights to PIT from PHL wouldn't work, you would lose the O&D PHL generates. If PHL generates what another thread stated, 40% of the entire company, then PIT will never be an option. It just like Southwest philosophy, just have to deal with PHL traffic congestion. Its nothing anyone can do except the FAA. Its up to the airlines to coordinate plans and ideas with them. There could some approach procedures that could be changed, but in the end, PHL will be PHL on the traffic side. 40% is alot of revenue. Building a new airport in the Philly area would be very difficult and expensive.

Alternatives could be ABE, TTN, ILG. But not on a major scale, but still creates air congestion in the area. Whatever plan they come up with, I am all for it.

I DID NOT KNOW THERE Was a AMERICAN West Airline. Never Heard of such an Airline. Sorry.
MWW

It was a small regional carrier in the west that competed well with WN in low fare leisure markets. It did not fly internationally unless you consider Canada and Mexico to be international destinations. Most of their employees were stepford wife kool-ade drinking inexperienced youngsters who knew that one of the biggest offenses was to go overwing if working the A position. They were very competent in doing the wonder woman pose and knew their manual inside-out even though no pencil marks or dog-ears were permitted.

Obviously you must be mistaken...America West was not a regional carrier. I think you should do your homework and see that we used to fly to Japan and flew a 747. What regional carrier would fly that? I dont think you even know any of the routes that America West flew and continue to fly...you probably are the one that stated in another posting that we never flew to cold weather climates!

The stepford wife remark is uncalled for...at least we provided and still continue to provide a service to our passengers that would run circles around your lazy assed FAs that represent the poorly service that "US Scareways" bad reputation of treating the passengers terribly. I still am embarrased to be known as USAirways even though it is a NEW version of what you drove into the ground.

I look forward to the day that Christine Jordan Lutz returns as the FAA inspector and she fines your lazy ass for incompetence and not knowing your job!

We take pride in our operation, just ask any passenger and they know who is a America West employee and who is of the lazy bunch from US Scare!

It was an embarrasement flying around on East metal and receive ONE beverage service in a 4hr flight. And hearing your B flight attndt ridicule the passengers over the PA for putting a small carry on item in the overhead compartment. Or yelling at a passenger for looking for an overhead bin space because your lazy ass crew closed all the bins 20 mins prior to closing the ac door. Instead you should of offered to locate space, or move bags around to make room for the passenger. Not Yell at them!.

Better yet, lets put two ice cubes in the glass and think that is quality because you wont follow procedure to put an ice bucket on the top of the cart. Not in 20yrs has an ice bucket fallen off a cart on the West. I guess you would rather open the ice drawer 200 times during a beverage service...and run to the aft galley 5 times to get more ice for your drawer. Or ask the passenger who requests a can of Diet Coke if they want a glass w/ice? The list goes on and on about how poor quality some of the East FAs provide...I would be embarrased to say that was acceptable.

I so look forward to the ghost riding process to restart in the coming months...maybe then we can rid the company of those that give US a bad reputation once again.

So US1yfare get your facts right before you start pointing a finger!!!! I think its time for you to drop the attitude and find the closest floor exit. We do not need your negativity. Buh bYe!
