GRAND RAPIDS -- A twin-engine jet with eight people aboard made an unscheduled landing at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport on Thursday after passengers smelled smoke in the plane's galley and a smoke-indicator light came on. The Northwest Airlines flight landed safely about 12 p.m. after the airport put fire crews on standby. A thermal imaging camera later could find no evidence of fire. Airport spokesman Bruce Schedlbauer said the plane, part of a Federal Aviation Administration certification flight, was traveling from Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. to Minneapolis-St. Paul.

I wonder - was this a test run for the ERJ-190's that Compass Airlines will be flying, since this flight originated at IAD? If it was, what a way to start the operation! :D
