Outsourcing Fleet

That is not true, if it is not union shop, open or closed, a company does not by law have to provide anything to the employees.

For example, the four IBT stations had differant rules and regulations then the remaining stations back in the day.

And in 1992, the ramp and customer service were non-union and they devastated those ranks and they did not have the same benefits and such as the unionized employees.

In Pa. you do not have to join the union, but will still have to pay 80% of the dues. And you will not be able to vote on contract issues either. If severance pay is not in the contract you can bet it will not be paid to contract employees.

PA law does not cover contracts under the Railway Labor Act. Airline contracts between labor and management are federal, not state.

You still have to join the union, then you can become a dues objector, joining the union is a condition of employment with contracts that have a Union Security Clause.

Go read the Beck decision.

I didnt get a severence and all that after being furloughed and im in a union thats on the property.

Could someone post the entire list of cities that will be outsourced again. The newspapers are saying anywhere from 22 to 26 cities, but I only saw a list on here of about 19 cities.

The other question I have is will these employees be allowed to outright "bump" other employees at stations that aren't being outsourced or does there need to be exisitng openings in the non-ouysourced stations?

thank you. and good luck to you if youre in a soon to beoutsourced station. as for me i will leave usair once my station is outsourced.

I have family on the ramp in PVD, which sounds like will remain Fleet Service and not be effected by other employees "bumping" in. Nonetheless, this news sucks for even more US employees...As a long time "fan" and a regular passenger on US, I'd like to thank you for efforts there since I doubt US management will.

Here is the truly heinous part of IAM perfidy.

Always, in the past, when one was furloughed, he maintained recall rights for a number (it has varied from 3 to 6) years.

During furlough, you continued to accrue seniority - ALL seniority. Pay, bidding, departmental, etc.

If recalled within the allotted time frame, you brought all of your seniority with you. Many agents have done so.

Not so, this go-around.

If you accept furlough, and later accept recall, you have ZERO seniority for bidding or pay - you start as the bottom.

The IAM and the company managed to keep this little item secret until the informational meetings. In my mind, this is why the IAM did not allow ANYONE from a local affected by such treachery onto the negotiating committee - a time-honored IAM ploy.

I remember all to well discussing various doomsday scenarios with an AGC some 18 months ago. I made the point to him that fundamentally changing an agent's recall rights would be the worst thing that could happen, and he agreed.

Well, here we are.

Diogenes, it was a final offer, not a T/A and that was in the term sheet that EVERY fleet person recieved.

Sorry 700, but the IAM can't have it both ways.

The first half of the informational meetings consisted of D141 bragging about how they had 'improved' the final offer.

And the term sheets came out after the info meeting - there was no info about this major change before.

The term sheet was out on 1/6/05 I read it in CLT and up on the web before th meeting on 1/12/05.

and the truly sad part is that the iam has allowed the company to furlough basically all in the 22 cities that will be outsourced. and rumor has it that RDU is also gone but i didnt think it was on the list but i could be wrong. sad sad sad
the iam has got to go as they have failed us the union dues paying people
