513 guys had a pad mary meeting in the middle of the day yesterday here at DFW. Had one hell of a turnout!!!!! It was refreshing to see the solidarity. Seems they are ready to say enough is enough as the company drags on negotiations. Company is now going gate to gate and harassing them on uniforms, shoes and other safety items. I think the safety blitz is on??? Time will tell.............. Holidays are coming too .... 😀 😀 And then there is that little gathering here in February ........Oh ya Superbowl!!! May get interesting.???

Funny you mention the uniform thing. We were warned the JFK manager would come through himself and he did....Two days ago for a walkthrough. A line cargo worker was fired for smoking on the ramp.
This is to be expected as the company prepares to play hardball.
Now, before the pro-company/anti unionistas defend the company for enforcing the rules...let me say this.........................
YES, RULES ARE RULES!!!!!! Company supplied uniforms MUST be worn!
Proper footwear MUST be worn!
All SAFETY procedures MUST be adhered to!
NO SMOKING ON THE RAMP!
No argument from me!
But NOW they are enforcing these rules? WHY? Because the TA was voted down by M&E and the other Title groups are just as unhappy as everyone else!

This is similiar to the anti-unionistas who criticize mechancis for saying GO BY THE BOOK! They tell us we should always go by the book and why are we now only doing it?

Works both ways!

The same here on uniforms, were told by are station maintence manager that we have a CAST audit by the FAA starting Sunday. It also was stress that uniforms shirt's tuck in,and no soil uniforms, safety shoes worn as well. Please look profession at all times.Next up was the bump and roll and how it will impact us on the West coast operations. After he left and our union president came in and went over the lastest round of talks with the other union presidents and a attempt by the No voter Presidents to removed from the committee the yes voters Presidents, with the intend they had already had there chance after 2 years of talks, and was responsible for this T/A "12 yes to 9 no vote" that they brought to the memberships, which failed by more than a 2 to 1.TWU surveys that we done by some local not all showed a desire to return to the 2001 agreement and negoiate from that stance. But the Yes voters whated to try to sweeten the current rejected T/A in a attempt to move a small portion of the no voters over to a yes vote. Some good news is that 3 of the yes votor were removed by either election or the closure of MCIE,and more are to follow soon.He also address the AMP voter requistration currenty underway at American and thought this might prove to show to the NMB,AA,TWU that the membership is starting to get frustrated with all party's.Quite a day yesterday full of info, after a long period of silence from the TWU, and American airlines after that major defeat to American Airlines and the TWU.Oh ticket agents were notified yesterday that there employee benefits package was going to change. It included the rejected TWU maintence T/A benefits almost word for word. With lump sum and small raises.Health benefits rate increase's we also discussed.

What station are you at?

I saw what the agents got and it's what we would have gotten, but they have it better sense they don't pay union dues. Why do we even have a union, when they can't even do better then what the company GAVE to the agents?

Nothing new at ORD other then Gilboy is talking tough.

Seems they are ready to say enough is enough as the company drags on negotiations.

What party was so out of touch with its members that it OKed a TA in May and dragged out the vote for almost 4 months only vote it down. I don't think the company is dragging out anything. Imagine if the AMR Shareholders had to approve the TA and they voted it down 4 months later..you may have point. The company can make a deal and stick to it. The TWU is incapable of negoatiating anything. Time to go non union.

All bad blood and BS aside .... These events were the promise you guys were elected on ... remember pushing back? I'm just asking... Why are we talking about a 513 pad mary meeting and not a 565 one?

How did Gilboy vote, and what was the vote at ORD Yes verus no.We can not do any better till this negotiation board is reorganized. Those that voted yes had there chance and failed.American Airlines strategy was all along was to not neg from the 2001 contract and successfully did so with this board. There stand on this is that time's have change again with the megers and buyouts (before it was 9/11)of other carriers, this has strenghten their opponent's on the domestic side of the system. This is were labor rates they say are to high to compete price wise in these price senative stations, this is why the offer to the ramp was dayline cabin elminated which could have resulted in layoffs of around 2000,and then was modified to a pay cut if you bid that postion on dayline dayshift system wide class 1 and class 2.American's problem with labor is what to do?Do they outsource. And how to get a contract that allows just that. The TWU problem is it telling American wait on outsourcing lets try to work this out for both ramp and maintence at class 1 and class 2 stations,American and the TWU can not do both in this market eviro. This is not rocket science American is looking for and will not settled for anything else than a cost cutting contract by all 3 unions and a continue downsizing of cabin operations on daytime line. The problem is the TWU represents AMT and cabin it will have to betry one to appaise the other. This is American Airlines mode.Remember the ulitmate goal is to merger British,American,Japan Airlines into one carrier it never was AMR board stratey to align with a domestic carrier. There thought is to service their One World partner domestically both in ramp, maintence. And to do so very cheaply as to make huge profits,When the FAA and other countries around the world agree on qualifications, and training, American will have achieve a major effort.

BS aside? Okay, I'll forget the e-mails you sent complaining about the local, etc.

What promise did "you guys" break? Do not paint the entire Local 565 Board in a bad light because of the YES actions of one man. Local 565 Board was not aware of the YES vote and was just as surprised as the membership. The Board had ZERO input during negotiations. But you already knew this. After all the union meetings you attended you should know better.

Can't wait for your next e-mail calling us names. First it was "you guys suck" to the board being a bunch of clowns. I especially like where you try to insinuate the effort to raise money for charity as anything other than what it was. All bad blood and BS aside... 🙂

Maybe they're just now getting around to it because it's not so damn hot out? Or maybe because things have slowed down a bit, i.e. it's after Labor Day, school is back in session so everyone is back from vacation, load factors are calming down a bit, the 2011 budgets are already submitted and won't be acted on for another six weeks?...

Easy ...please, you'll hurt my feelings. I intended for my tone to be neutral, and I did'nt mention the yes vote, or the dunk tank (I got called a drunk for that!) I was only asking should'nt the thermostat be turned up a notch or two? I think we would have done so.

Yes, the thermostat should be turned up but the international will turn it down. This system is broken. Have you signed an AMP card yet? As for feelings, mine weren't hurt and I'm sure yours weren't either.

As for the International I respectfully dis agree ... DV is a good friend of mine and Im on good terms with all the powers that be up to the top. They didnt bend my decisions ... they might of dis-agreed like hell called me names etc. but at the end of the day I decided for 565. Period. I dont understand this need for a new organization. The word "NO" worked just fine from my perspective within the current org.

Keith,

The international is the problem. They peddled this t/a and it was concessionary in every way, shape and form. The international NOT the locals that inserted a colored flyer urging people to vote yes. The international officers are not elected by the membership. The international negotiates the contracts. The international is the one that keeps coming up with slogans that are toothless. The international said "Change from within." but look at the national convention. It's the farthest thing from democracy in action. The twu may not have bend your decisions but you know they have done that in the past with others across the system.

I can respectfully agree to disagree with another person's point of view. You are not hiding behind an alias. I simply feel/believe that the longer we stay with the twu the more harm will come to our craft & profession. The need for a new organization is needed because of the things I pointed out above.

The twu can not defend their constitution when compared to AMP's constitution. They use misinformation like they have done in Tulsa when they tried explaining how an election would work between the twu and AMP. Heck, Keith, there isn't one person willing to stand up and defend the structure/actions of the twu using their real name.

What is wrong with a craft, democratic union for our craft and class? What is wrong with wanting to elect all officers that represent our craft and class from top to bottom? What is wrong with allowing recall of all elected officials? I don't think anything is wrong with wanting these items. We don't have them with the twu. We will have them with AMP.
