What's new

Painting of AC

Would it be safe to assume the MD-80's won't be getting the new paint scheme?

You never know, if they are in for heavy MTC a repaint may be part of the package.

They wont paint the MD-80s, that fleet is slated to be retired.

Doug is a penny pincher, he wont throw away money since the merger is expected to cost $1.2 Billion over the next three years.

In that case what will they do if an MD-80 needs to be stripped down anyway? The are phasing them out, but it will be a lengthy process that will stretch over a 2+ years.

Wings,

The MD-80s are NOT painted, they only have the stripes down the fuselage, everything else is polished aluminum.

I realize that, but nothing saying that they wouldn't do hybrid scheme with the large letters and the new tail.

The tail and the new lettering are stickers.

I remember US Airways did that with some DC-9's before they left the fleet. They got just the tail paint...

[sup]I'm not a fan of US swoosh, but I do like it with the American on the previous page.[/sup]

so once again we went off the topic. the question was "now lets see whos guess is going to be the closest. When do you think the first US Airways AC will be painted into the new AA?" and not how everyone thinks of the new or old.
