What's new

Parker no shows on Larry King

1st : political concerns should override free PR , if it comes down to larry king or the senate , the obvious answer is the senate … good choice . However , on such an important show mike is correct , there should have been a backup speaker or a prepared statement etc .

2. Morgan speaks with a forked tongue …. You do your PR very well Morgan , but I ask you , with our stock so low , why bother with some of the fakeness ? After reading your above post what you were really trying to say is that 8 or so pilots were dragging their feet trying to be dead weight to the company costing us money with extra fuel burn …

While you may feel “constrained†to speak , I am not ….

These pilots have caused MATERIAL HARM to our company , I’m sure that most of our pilots have good sense , however , there are too many who don’t …

We have a 2 billion dollar FUEL cost this year , up from LAST YEAR …. That’s 2 BILLION DOLLARS … !?!?!?! ???? are you unable to grasp what the means ? you must be , so I’ll tell you …

You won’t be seeing any large wage increases … in fact our poor west pilots may in fact be driven down to the wages of the east pilots if our company enters BK … that’s a sad reality ….

Hey us airways pilots ? do you like having a job ? do you enjoy flying ? well then don’t do ANYTHING to harm this company … guess what , if we go out of business , your all going to be out of jobs for a GOOD long while .. what company would even want to touch a us airways pilot ? In any sort of hiring situation your now akin to the plague …

The US economy is collapsing around us , have the good sense to behave like men and accept the realities of the current day .
Yeh...it's the pilots fault this airline is getting ready to slam into the ground....Give it up will you, your cheerleading antics are getting boring....

kudos to you broken wrench , very well writen ,honest and to the POINT .
Actually, son, that was written by Holly, a self-styled airline analyst with a rather checkered career of knowing what she is talking about.

Great ad, BTW. It seems to have increased morale. Even the passengers like it. One confided to me that the US pilots seem the only ones who care about safety.

Plane Buzz

The boys at USAPA are real men of genius.

As a result, they are more than deserving of a PlaneBuzz Buzz Bomb Award.

Holly Hegeman (sp?) easily won the Aviation Moron of the Millennium Award for the second millennium, and is already the front runner to win for the third millennium. Her competition?... the westie that wrote that "unbiased" letter of outrage.

Driver, are you talking about a former flight attendant, turned Internet rumor-monger, of the same name from Dallas? Whose brother is a retired SWA pilot? Major credibility there! S

What a SHAME it is about the Fuel , next it will be about the napkins used per service. It all boils down to CONTROL. USAPA is being thrown to the curb we all need to take back our careers. Does it justify the fact that Chief Pilots are attempting to use flight attendants to go after certain pilots. FORGET ABOUT IT. Get back to business do your job do not be vindictive you are all you have. If you choose to demonize Parker then he is your Master . We the employee need to work for the greater good even when the storm is blowing. Do not sell yourselves short.

according to Miles O'Brian on CNN mins ago, he said its not the fuel itself, its the reserve and he went further as to say that HP and CO successfully negogiated with the FAA to carry 5% reserve fuel in the event of diverting to another airport or holding. According to a USAIRWAYS Statement, they claim they would never step into an unsafe situation whereas less fuel would compromise the safety of any flights

I missed it but am glad USAir expressed their commitment to safe fuel loads on every flight. Did they explain who specifically they employ in order to deliver this promise?

Morgan, the way things transpired last night I perceived, rightly or wrongly, that Doug ducked the show because of the way events transpired during the day, mostly due to the USAPA ad. ...]

I do have one question to which I would like to see a company response. ...is the crux of the USAPA complaint correct, specifically that if the pilots were to be in a training session.. the pilot's license could conceivably be in jeopardy...

From the USAPA update July, 18th:

The common message that USAPA stands by is that Management’s discriminatory and punitive actions will have a chilling effect on our pilots’ ability to exercise their judgment concerning safe decisions on fuel loads. Management has shown that adding fuel may cause a pilot to be called in on a day off for training which could then culminate in a jeopardy event.

To address your question, HP, simulators are jeopardy events waiting to happen. That's just a fact. No amount of perspective, reflection, ruminating, deep breathing, or beads of sweat on your brow will change that.

The company should address the issue that started all this.

USAPA maintains that the company is engaging in "discriminatory and punitive actions" by subjecting these eight (8) pilots for training. The company would be vindicated if they simply disproved USAPA's accusation that it was "punitive". If Doug had showed up on Larry King Live then he could have had the opportunity to justify the "training". I am unaware of any company statements decisively addressing the "discriminatory and punitive" charge. That is a bit curious to say the least, but also difficult after the suspects have already been executed before conviction, so to speak.

<SNIP> If Doug had showed up on Larry King Live then he could have had the opportunity to justify the "training".
And he could’ve given any number of non-answer answers and blown it off, King goes back to the topic at hand, and we would’ve seen a longer segment with that hot tennis star.

Here’s a better scenario …

You could have NEVER taken it public in the FIRST PLACE!!!!

Nope , instead you cost us money , and that money is your jobs boys and girls … bad PR leads to low booking , if you create fear about flying on us airways , people won’t fly and YOU will be out of a job along with the rest of us …

DUHHHHHH STOOOPID!!!!!

I would have to say that Tempe has shown they are quite capable of producing bad PR the last couple of years all by themselves.

Your talking to a guy who enjoys drinking .

Are you going to moan on about the past forever ? why don't you mention some of the good things parker has done , oh wait , you can't because your bais and can't seperate your emotions from your thoughts .....

Your english seems to need a slight amount of polish.

Of all the options available to "management" over this fuel fiasco, with no apparent evidence, the worst they could do was to place eight innocent pilots in jeopardy. The union told them that and told them that they would go public if the company did not reconsider. When the company shot themselves in the foot, the union had to do what they threatened, there was no turning back.

As far as the ad. Mr. Buffett's VP got on the phone today to congratulate me (as if I represented the union) on a well-written and classy (Warren's words) ad. Yes, that Mr. Buffett.

You, in your misguided enthusiasm, believe whatever management says, without ever attempting to hear the other side. You, sir, are a poster child for why experience should reign. Your lack of experience is obvious and in a supervisory position, would cost the company millions.

You ain't got nothin', sir.
