Now we all know PHL reserve lines do not have any INV days built in for Xmas. So know the company is offering TDY duty in DCA from 12/17-31. That is a joke. Now PHL reserves have to cover out of base trips? Something aint right here!

Are you for real? TDY is the best deal going, especially if you commute to PHL! ChaChing for Christmas!!!

Good deal for commuters who pay for hotel rooms in PHL.

Well i guess if you live in the DCA/BWI area and commute to PHL its a great thing.

Obviously you do not know anything about TDY. You could live on the moon and do TDY. Why would you sit in a hotel in PHL or a crash pad for 6 days AVL, when you can enjoy the sights of DCA with a nice hotel room paid for by the company and collect round the clock per diem for 15 days? Yes you will be on call on your AVL days just as you would in PHL. They have to go through the DCA LTO list first then they use the TDY list. You also get 5 additional pay hours per week, so instead of a 73 hour pay guarantee you are up to an 83 hour pay guarantee. My name is already on the list!

If the F/A group is so up in arms over the current contract, WHY would any F/A concerned with work rules, Reserve issues, etc etc etc even think of doing a TDY assignment???? Remember a union is only as strong as its weakest member.

If you want a better contract you have to hit them hard right in the pocket book. TDY allows them to get off the hook and not pay for their poor management decisions and treating you like crap. Cancelled flights due to lack of crew HURT and hurt alot.

Actually if not enough people sign up for TDY, they can assign from the lowest seniority so there will not be a lack of flight crews from no one signing up for TDY. In addition, TDY costs the company A LOT. I know for one month TDY in LGA with per diem, a 93 hour guarantee, hotels and other incidentals an F/A can claim like subway, taxi, phone, etc. it cost the company around $13,000 per F/A and those were the numbers 1.5 years ago.

Work your trips, smile, be pleasant and let the company do what they get paid for which is to manage the company. If you're not required to work, DON'T! Your kid won't remember that cool video game you bought with the extra money you earned on TDY but he or she WILL remember the time you spent with them instead of bailing out a smug, arrogant and disrespectful Management Team by working ETB or TDY assignments.

If you know you're going to work Christmas anyway, it's a GREAT deal. The per diem alone is round the clock...even on your off days. TDY for two weeks...multiply all those days times by our hourly wage. You get an 83 hour guarantee and can go home on your OFF days and they keep your room for you. You can also do ETB on your days OFF for more cash. If your RSV lines are like ours, there are NO INV days over Christmas so they could take away your OFF days anyway so why not do TDY and get what the company should be paying you for what your worth anyways ?? Have your family come see you on your OFF days and stay with you in your room (paid for by the company) as a Christmas treat. Washington DC is beautiful during the holidays....

Hey, I don't know everything, I'm just tired of seeing a good group of men and women taking it in the shorts all the time and being treated like crap. It's time to stand up for yourselves is all I'm saying.
We are all tired of taking it in the shorts. However any time you have an opportunity to make big bucks at the expense of the companys screw up, why not? Sitting in DCA getting paid appeals to me much better then sitting in PHL in a hotel that I am paying for. If no one signs up for TDY the company as per our contract the company has the right to assign in reverse seniority order. It will be covered one way or the other. Personally TDY is better for PHL reserves then being assigned out of base trips that pay next to nothing. Take advantage of it.

Point taken! If what you say is true, make them pay.

I sit corrected!! I had a wonderful F/A in First on the way to DFW. Got upgraded after a no-show.
What day was that, my friend just flew a trip that went to DFW. I think he worked to DFW Friday night.

Hey atleast if you're sitting ready reserve at DCA...Hit me up and I'll buy you lunch/dinner...This is a "limited time offer" and applies to good looking female flight attendants between the ages of 20-25...Oh wait...US Airways hasn't hired anyone that young since 95-97'...maybe I'd better increase my age range to hmm 25-32 and no Westies welcome unless LAS based.

Ok here is a good question. If you have an ETB trip already awarded on your off days can you do TDY? I don't know WHERE this language is written in the contract. I know if you have vacation in that month over the TDY period you cannot do it. I wonder if having trips (out of base) back in PHL while your in DCA would be allowed.

In the past if you have an ETB trip that is already awarded to you in your base that falls on the days you will be doing TDY you can fly it or give it up on the ETB. You can also pick up ETB trips off the ETB in DCA while doing TDY.
