Philly Reserves being offered TDY to Washington base in Dec

Exactly...why bother with 8. I thought they wanted something like 30-40.

I don't know? I talked to the union today and that is what they told me.

Why would the company even bother? Why not save the perdium money and cover those trips out of base.

I guess they "think" we will look at this as a noble effort on their part. It is quite stupid actually.

Why would anyone be bogged down for the holidays. At least in your own base you can "play the game".

Exactly! ! ! ! If it's remotely around the $13,000.00 give or take per flight attendant to offer TDY they are truly crazy. Why not just cover as out of base. I can't believe it's only 8-10..... I hope the girl on my trip gets it. 🙄 NOOOOOOT! ! !

Regardless of what you think, the WORTHLESS union STILL needs to put something out.
We should not have to SEARCH for this information.

Anyway, they are only offering 8-10 TDY positions according to the union.

Regardless of what you think, the union is not our babysitter. I do not rely on the union for my questions. I am an adult, I take responsibility for myself. You were issued the flight attendant working agreement, its your contract learn it.

What ever dude!

Whenever the company offers any kind for program, they are obligated to inform their membership.

That is what your dues are for.

Move on!!

Dues are for enforcing the CBA, not issuing information everytime the company does something.

Twice, I agree with you 100%. Granted the section containing TDY information can be found in the contract but can't just about everything they bring to light through E-lines such as the International Illegality Chart be found? True the chart itself isn't in the contract but HOW to figure out if your going illegal IS right? The point is TDY is being offered "barely" so the union should put out an E-line outlining "things to know" or "things to keep in mind". Ugggggh.

If thats the case you are saying the Inflight Standards Coach/Observation program and the Focus Group positions that was just offered should have been explained by the union? The union does not have an obligation to inform its members of programs the company offers. That is not what union dues are for. As far as TDY, if you think it sucks then don't do it.

I will agree that our group of flight attendants are the biggest bunch of babies. They need fed, burped, rocked and changed BUT the union STILL should put information out. After all many use that contract to hold up the corner of the bed that lost the wheel. It's about ALL it's good for. With that being said you don't hold the union that responsible for much then huh? What other E-lines have they put out recently? I guess they didn't need to respond with an E-line about how reserves in the PHL base got screwed for the holiday in December too right? The union certainly DOES have an obligation to keep it's DUES PAYING members informed regardless of HOW ridiculous you feel it is. What is this place turning into? 🙄

The company informed the PHL reserves that TDY will be offered to DCA. You want the union to also send out an E-line saying the same thing so everyone can be informed. If the PHL reserves are not interested in TDY, the PIT reserves will jump all over it.

TDY:

It consist of 8-10 flight attendants being put up in a hotel for the duration of the TDY period, being AVL on their scheduled days and OFF/INV on their scheduled days. They will use the DCA LTO list first to cover trips then go in LTO order to the TDY list. You take your LTO with you to DCA. You are paid per diem from 1 hour before you deadhead to DCA to 15 mins after your deadhead back and if you fly a lead in trip you still continue to accure per diem as well as your 5 hours per week paid above your pay guarantee. You are also entitled to reasonable expenses with a receipt, ie cabs, metro. Flat $25 for phone, as well as reimbursed for van tips to and from the airport, maid tip. On your days OFF/INV you can go home just like you do in PHL or you can stay and enjoy the sights of DCA, bring your family or whatever. Anything else you need to know about TDY??

Sarcasm.....NOTED! What has the union had to say about TDY or anything for that matter lately? Hmmmm I think that would be NOTHING. They sure are quick to send out an E-line about calling off over the holiday that the "COMPANY" put out through a CBS. Feel free to open mouth and insert foot. We'll all wait for your retort.

Wasnt trying to be sarcastic. It just amazes me how flight attendants expect everyone else to be responsible for them. They asked for info on TDY, I provided. NO AFA affilation, just an average joe flight attendant who has done TDY in the past.

If you have a problem with the information that your local council is or isn't providing then you need to take it up with that office.

If you feel as though I have opened my mouth and inserted my foot, at least I did it with correct and accurate information. Some might just say thank you.

FLY the TDY information is appreciated. It's even appreciated by me and I have no intention of doing it. I will stand by my belief that the union at ANY level should put information out about the company offering TDY. Certainly since they had NOOOOOO problem pasting the half a$$ed bit about calling off during the holiday period that the company delivered via CBS. I find THAT intriguing.
