. Watch out seasonal airlines you could be next on the state's head tax hunt.
As usual, US Airways is a day late and a dollar short on getting this service going. Should have been done years ago. Simply put, the Alaska tourism industry has suffered a big hit with SEVEN cruise ships pulling out next year. Three of those ships required PAX flying into ANC to catch them. Three ships with 2,000 PAX avg weekly over 5 months - do the math. Oh, and let's not forget WHY the ships pulled out -- a huge head tax on those travelers. Watch out seasonal airlines you could be next on the state's head tax hunt.

I know Palin gets mocked for that statement, but I used to fly up in Alaska quite a bit during the Cold War and the locals used to go to visit their relatives, via snowmachine, in Siberia during the winter. It really is a unique and cool place to visit.
and you TOO will be able to see Russia from your house...

That's illegal, technically.
After rolling my eyes I just want to say that I can't wait to fly this trip next summer. I've always wanted to go there. I didn't realize CO suspended their non-stop from EWR.
It is beautiful there and you can't help but be inspired by the place. BUT, bring the bug spray -- the blackflies are huge and vicious.
