Just for fun over a cup of coffee (the $1.00 kind from the crew room), build your perfect Inflight Staff. As flight attendants, we know the kind people we want in their managing us. So if it were left up to us, who would it be. Start from the director's position down.
Hmmm, I had to think long and hard...and at first I was going to write a list of all the silly f/a's that would be silly supervisors and make things fun....but then I really thought;
The best supervisor's are the one's that would not be brainwashed by upper management, the one's that don't carry a torch and think they have hit the "big time" by being a supervisor, it would be people who knew this was a 3 year ride, just to get it on the resume', not to make it a lifetime career, it would be people who knew it was a dead end job - who would make friends and influence people and work conscienciously to become knowledgeable and get recognized for a job well done, so that they could further themselves in the company, (which - the only place to go is PHX), not sit and hide in their office and take "OPR" when it came time to co-fly. The Ideal Sup should have that in perspective so that they weren't out taking their frustrations out on the one or two or five f/a's whose husband/child/mother has cancer and commutes to PIT and has 3 sick calls and 2 Unable to commutes....or whose husband/wife lost her job so he/she is now flying 110 hours and trying to commute home to PIT, LGA or BOS, or LAX or SAN or SFO one day a week to see his/her kids......
This is the way it was back before the dependability program.......people were honored and disciplined accordingly, not now, there is no thinking on the Sup's part, they just send this sick letter and that sick letter and this short block letter and that overfly letter......no creativity
Back when Peter, and Sandy, and Joe A and Joe Mack and Ray and Rick Cangey were sup's, that was a real supervisor position with real pay, and we respected them and they respected the f/a group....how can I respect a Supervisor who can't speak grammatically correct ENGLISH?? 'Well you 'was' supposed to fly 95, and you ain't done that'. Well, that's what you get for 30,000 minus City of PHL taxes which comes to about 27,000 a year.....wow, five hundred bucks a week.....can make more than that bartending....
Anyone else have the PHL dream team from Director down??
