US NAMES SHERRI SHAMBLIN AS VICE PRESIDENT, INFLIGHT SERVICES

US Airways has promoted Managing Director InFlight Services Sherri Shamblin to vice president, InFlight services. She succeeds Ron Cole, who announced his retirement in September. Shamblin will report to Captain Ed Bular, senior vice president Flight Operations/InFlight.

Captain Bular said, “Sherri’s dedication to excellence, stellar work ethic and aptitude for enabling the success of others will serve our airline well. She will oversee our outstanding flight attendant group as well as all facets of on-board products and services.â€￾

Before joining America West Airlines as a flight attendant in 1986, Shamblin served as an operations specialist in the United States Navy stationed in Japan. She held numerous other positions at America West including customer service manager – baggage, station manager at both Burbank and Indianapolis as well as ground operations manager at Los Angeles International Airport. Shamblin is a graduate of the human resources management program at Western International University. Her new position is subject to approval of the US Airways Board of Directors.

i have gotten to know sherrie very well. she is an excellent choice for this position. congrats sherrie .and good luck.

Didn’t HP employees in 1986 get hired as flight attendant and agents and do both jobs? How long was she a FA

If she is the one who put out the letter saying "Sorry" about the whole cart packout crap isn't is something like 4 years that she was a f/a?

Hey Sherri

This is being posted here since management DOES hawk this site.

Congratulations!! Now that you're the woMAN, could you PLEASE pressure marketing to STOP THE ADVERTISING ON THE LEVEL OFF VIDEO ANNOUNCEMENT????? AND the hawking of virtually everything? Put it in the mag, the barf bag, or even the a/c engines, but as I told you a few months ago, we are creating an aggressive and hostile environment. Guess what? I am right. PLEASE!!!!! Bring back the quiet airplane!!!

I'm right there with you on that one LCC. Get rid of the crap. It's is out of control and beyond tolerable. It is making the travel experience on USairways worse that it already was. If this merger goes through, look out Delta. Our inflight management will destroy anything NICE you folks have. It's cost, cost, cost and push, push, push. This IN YOUR FACE advertising is insane. So is the cashcow going as rumored or not?

Couldn't agree more, nothing is more embarrassing than that damn level off video that goes on and on about Mastercard's and Visa's, and skymall and Vegas hotel rooms everything else we might be able to shake ya down for. The worst is handing out those Stone Cold cards... At first I was mad, then I saw them and I'm like okay it's a christmas type thing and they might like it, but then it was a VERY short flt. and it donned on me a couple rows into it, it's EARLY and people want snacks not these dumb cards, so it quickly turned into "wheres the snack?!", "no more snacks on us airways?" etc, etc,etc... So I hate hate those cards, thank god any future promotions envolving us directly will have to go through our union and will put an end to using us for making the company cash to buy other defunct airlines. Over all I love my job tremendously, but this whole advertisment on everything we can put it on has GOT to stop, NOT even southwest does that kind of stuff.

That would be so nice, but unfortunately for us, she needs to bring in the advertising money so when she gets the multi-million dollar stock options after the new merger goes she will be able to claim it was cost-nuetral.

Ok, I'm gonna comment on something that has to do with INFLIGHT, but not necessarily the topic of sherri.

Has anyone else been approached by first class passengers about SPECIAL MEALS? Several times flying transcon, F/A's have been asked by first class passengers, WHERE THEIR SPECIAL MEALS are. In fact, the manifest shows for example, (VEG)meal under the passenger name!!! Also, USAirways.com shows special meals on international flights only.
Did someone miss a memo here? LOL.

Also, when asked for an "address" to complain, the USAirways Magazine no longer has it inside. In the blue section on a lower page, they only show an EMAIL or a PHONE NUMBER. Yet, on the website, it's there.
Comments anyone?

only stating opinions.

After spneding 3 intolerable weeks flying Delta in December, they have very little of anything "NICE" to offer. Aside from a route network and a bunch of widebodies, the operation is a total screw-up.

Unfortunantly, all the advertising will continue. US not only will nickle and dime it's employees, but the customers as well. If there's a nickle to be made somewhere, Doug will find it.

Same reason they got rid of half of the airport maps, and the Spanish section, and the instructions on how to fill out customs forms.

None of it was relevant for the new magazine after the name change from Attaché to Las Vegas Magazine.

Somebody asked Tempe about it in AboutUS back then, and Tempe came up with some pathetic excuse about being cost-neutral or some such nonsense.

I have a question for sherrie...how can you make a f/a a supv when they have a spouse parent and chummy other in the same base? can you say conflict of interest...IMO
