Anyone know if it's true that J.M. is not only getting paid 105 from AFA for being in the office but also flew 50 hours (international) in December???
I looked up the pairing numbers he was supposedly on and yes, there he was....
Wasn't L. Albert kicked out of office for doing exactly the same thing???
Help me out here---why can he do it but his predecessor couldn't ?

This is not true! I called the LEC just last week and had a long conversation with GJ about this. She explained that she sees his pay log and has to also sign off on it. He only collects the money from AFA while he is in the office working. He also wecomes anyone to come into the office and see the pay log, and the LEC budget at any time.

However, did you have any conversation with JM that day????

Here's the deal, 105 International is a FULL months flying. He should be putting in a FULL months worth of work, and that means 5 days a week. Otherwise, he is maxing his AFA compensation, plus AFA meal expense allowance of $42 a day for those days, and flying International on top of the 105 plus those meals. Bottom line, he's making close to $100,000.

Any of you making that flying your max plus being legal for ETB?????

This is why he has put so many f/as in the office to work. NONE of them will cross john as he holds the AFA purse strings for the base.

I would bet the entire establishment that he is doing the exact same thing as Laura did. I know him quite well. He's a scum bag!

Who will challenge him???? He hated AFA and all unions when he was not in office; now he's using them and you to pad his pocket.

When I was in office, I never touched ETB, nor International pay. My time was devoted 5 days in the office and on-call on the weekends, every weekend for 5 years holding two positions.

The PHL elections are in 3 months!!!!

So, if I understand this correctly, he should be in the office 5 days a week which means that he would only be able to pick up ETB time on weekends or his two days off---not a BRU 4 day w/ 50 hours off, correct---or if he does then his flight pay loss from AFA should be deducted ????
I don't know, I see his name on plenty of international trips which means he is NOT in the office.

Wow this does not surprize me in the least bit. I challange all PHL based f/a to place a call to the lec office . Demand he put out an e-line and explain himself. He must communicate this to his members. I cant wait to hear the spin on this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andyperkins! And where were you with that statement before? Not saying right or wrong but you chime in at THE most interesting times. We as a group must decide what is and is not acceptable. if it's not right under one term it can't be right under another! Good for the Goose, good for the Gander A?

If John is doing this is it legal? The ethics board would most likely say YES. The question is though, Is he putting his FULL time in to AFA? As long as he does it would be found legal. Ethical? That's a different story.

This is just a shame! Its not that it's illegal; its just plain unethical to use AFA dues $$ to substantially increase your income while the folks you represent keep on struggling with cncesseionary contracts. I have NO respect for union reps who can double-talk there way out of this issue explaining an indirect "entitlement" to maxing out compensation by adding ETB time to their AFA time. 105 max hours means FULL time in the office. Period. Any other excuse given is just plain BS, and diverting the real issue that these f/as who were elected in leadership positions do NOT feel ANY concessionary pain when it comes to pay and compensation. They can never identify with the f/as plight when they have INCREASED their compensation, circumvented the concessionary pain that all of you feel jsut cause they were elected.

The guy is a schemer. Get him OUT!!!! Get someone in there with heart and spirit. If they you don't know who they are, just throw a dart. The "unknown" is much better than the KNOWN when it comes to this kind of leadership running AFA.

God help you guys.

It really doesn't matter what Internatinal thinks, or the MEC...it matters what PHL f/as think on the issue. He's taking a trip from soemeone else; and adding 50 - 70 hours additional in his flight pay. Is this ethical? Can any International f/a fly 105 and then add 50-70 hours of ETB every month????

Does he use his AFA paid commuter apt. to fly ETB? That's an issue imo. Are any of you able to fly ETB while having AFA pay for your apartment? His is paid by AFA so he can work in base....in the meantime, the abuse and taking advantage of the FPL continues.

No one should tolerate this. Anyone who does this kind of thing is subject to not being reelected. Simple problem to solve. It takes the action of the group to make any difference in any change.

There are sacrifices in union work, and there should never be a "win fall". The f/as have no opportunity for a "winfall" and neither should a union rep. just because they get elected and are trusted to take office and should be expected to BE AT THE OFFICE for the full flight pay loss provided, specifically because there is an office provided by union dues $$.

I only chime in when I have something to say. I had the conversation with GJ and wanted to share what she said. Trust me I watch the board and read what folk are saying...it’s the only way to know what folks are really thinking…they wont tell you the truth to your face because its so easy to hide behind some made up name.

I plan on making a trip to the office and looking over the pay sheets and seeing for myself. If I have any proof that he is doing this I will make sure everyone knows. I also believe that GJ and OB would make some noise about this if they thought it was going on, they are good reps in the LEC and work very hard for the members. I wanted an electronic summary of the LEC officers monthly pay sent out to the members but it didn’t happen because the whole LEC resigned remember.

I agree with you Pitbull. Regardless of how you cut it he is taking a trip away from someone (a reserve) quite possibly that could have had it. How can you "understand" the hardship of the group you are representing when you are using the system to boost your income. It's NOT fair. PERIOD.

Travelpro, you are the only one on these boards that I've seen that actually consistently gets what's going on. Trust me, the reps you have in office will not go out of their comfort zone to do anything drastically courageous on behalf of the f/as, specifically to use their rollcall votes to force the MEC to contact the company to make change. Whether it is successful or not; I have not heard from anyone that has claimed to have union reps that are willing to do what it takes, spend the time to challenge the concessionary status quo. Not a one.

Regardless of the last quarter loss, the company, overall, made a net profit of $477 million. What's wrong with this picture????? You guys have every right to demand change. You just need to organize yourselves and first get rid of the loser that heads AFA at your Local.

As a flight attendant struggling to get by on 30-40 hours per month living in a major northeastern city, paying high gasoline, utility, grocery etc prices, I am royally pi$$ed off if this is true. All other reserves in the same boat should be outraged also.
Overflying is taking food out of my mouth, substandard wages, high cost of living, work rules that tie my hands from working overtime, HAVING to work overtime and on top of that now we may have ANOTHER union leader possibly violating a code of ethics by double dipping. How about using some of that "creativity" to offer the reserves around this joint a leg to stand on? Not a hand out but a leg up? A fair shake?
How about some accountablity? Open the books and your schedule. Put this to rest if it's not true.
If it IS true.......

The same could be said about AFA officers that can hold and bid a monthly block, right? Like CA and folks that get AFA pay and then give the trips away to friends or drop to the AIL. I always thought that if you are full time rep you should let someone else get a line.

I also asked about the computer thing...and I was told he uses his own personal computer to get the trips off the ETB...now if he is using the AFA paid internet to connect that’s a problem IMO also.

Here's the issue...ETB was negotiated because of the drastic concessionary provisions voted in during both bankruptcies. It was a way for f/as, specifically reserves to make up some time because of LTO etc... but, what I've seen since I left AFA is a complete ABUSE by the union reps who now go on ETB to fly OVER their AFA full max hours.

The MAIN issue with John is that he was NEVER "red circled" for 105...so there is NO WAY he should be getting any 105 hour pay from aFA union dues $$. That is the first order of business for you guys to investigate. The issue with the MEC when the guy got voted in PHL was that he sought special consderation from the company to CLAIM 105 iNTERNATIONAL PAY WHEN HE TOOK THAT SEAT. An the MEC members (BOS and LGA) had a fit and told the MECP that if he approached the company for this special "perk", that he would be recalled.

So, from my understanding Mikey F. never pursued it. So McCorkey better not be getting 105 from Company AFA flight pay loss! If he is receiving anywhere from 83 to 90 hours from his line, then he would need to go on ETB to get to 105, BUT IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM TO RECIEVE 50 OR 70 HOURS OF ETB TIME unless he's in the office LESS than 4 or 5 days a week. Someone should be keeping track of how may trips he gets awarded ETB in a month. And I am sure he is watching is hours if he knows he's being watched because there is an election in a couple of months.

He is the kind of guy who will give you whatever you want to hear as a group; stay completely "under the radar" until he gets voted in again for 3 years.
Don't be fooled, get him out and vote for someone else.
