Want to go to a motocross event with discounted employee tickets? Move to PHX. Want to go and see a play? Move to PHX. Seems like Tempe is making this and other events available in the PHX area, would be nice to see other cities provided with discounted tickets to local functions...

Every city is important to the survival of this airline, I hope they dont reward one city with employee perks (no matter how small) and ignore everyone else.

Thats the way they have been doing it for years since the corporate headquarters is in tempe.

I think it's great! The city and the airline supporting each other. Our new management appears to realize that the employees have lives outside of the airline. Refreshing...

I'm guessing the coporations are approaching the company. It's in their best interest to do so. Don't the sports and entertainment orgainizations in the other hub cities do the same?

yeah but please do not forget that you now have other hubs phl & clt. it's not all about the west anymore. i have noticed that most of the events that have been done, have been in phx. i would love to see a jetpull being done in clt or phl . i know that time will tell. but you just get the feeling that everything is revolving around the phx area. the people in the east would love to be included as well and not have to travel out west to do it.

There are discounts at the GSO Colesium for US employees, as we are considered one of the biggest employers in the Traid area.

The same thing would happen when the headquarters was in Arlington. Man, do we have short memories.

Maybe if the old US management hadn't pissed everyone off in the entire US Airways system there would be more discounted events.

If the new US Airways wants to build good relations, they need to get the right managers who want to exemplify what the TEMPO wants, which I feel they will do.

As for Charlotte, two things. ONE: Stop screwing the locals. They are way too overcharged and please don't give the "if it weren't for US" BS. I have spoken to too many residence that resent the fact that to get a cheap ticket they have to drive 2 hours to GSO or GSP.

TWO: I see no sponsorship anywhere in our largest hubbed city. Air Trans does more. We have the newest sports arena in Charlotte...The Bobcats Arena...waiting for someone to buy naming rights. Can a company have two arenas named with ,say US Airways Arena.

If not, could we at least become a sponsor and plaster our name around the arena like all the OTHER local big wig names? Whoever is in charge with marketing in Charlotte should be fired. Our largest hub and NO sign that US Airways even exist. PITIFUL!! :down:

Almost all the things you see in US Today are things that individual employees got started and the company promoted them or is just passing along the info.
Things like DO Crew and Cactus Club you all can do. Things like group rates to events is done mostly by individuals and not the company. Make your own contacts, set up your own events and then fire off some info to Corp Com, the will either give you some help/sponsership or at least will pass it along in US TODAY. This stuff isn't Doug sitting around saying "can we get a corp discount to the zoo"! This is an employee figuring it out for themselvse and then going and do it! It seems to me one of the biggest challenges I see the East facing is to learn to take care of things themselves instead of waiting for mngmt to do it for you. You are impowered, go out and improve your job and your life!

Instead of waiting for somebody do something for your city, follow the examples of PHX and LAS. The employees there actively seeking out activities, getting together and negotiating discount. If they would wait for Doug and Company to do it ( Not to speack about the previous CEOS) there would be nothing . As you know, HP is started as a hometown airline, and the whole city rallied behind it way back when ( 23 years ago). Everybody pitched in, nobody yelled " faul" "we don't do that". Innitially, everybody handled baggs, tkts, gates , inflight just to name a few.

Again, it would be nice if the "how about me?" attitude will lessen a few degrees.

there are events offered nationwide through a discount with ticketmaster. uswest employees can find it through the pass bureau section of the compass website. if useast employees don't have that, please please contact the pass bureau and ask how. the company doesn't provide the discounts to anything, however. most are supplied by the vendors to us...ie, movie tickets at discounted rates, etc.

The jet pull was actually an employee started thing here at T-4 by maintenance or a lady how works upstairs in admin.Not in Tempe at CHQ. The company did jump onboard though.. Hell try orginizing one where yor at see what happens?

Don't wait for things to happen...make them happen. Of course one has to have management that allows employees to be empowered to make things happen. Perhaps this is part of the culture change that will need to take place. Culture change won't happen overnight.
