What's new

PHX in, all others out

Instead of waiting for somebody do something for your city, follow the examples of PHX and LAS. The employees there actively seeking out activities, getting together and negotiating discount. If they would wait for Doug and Company to do it ( Not to speack about the previous CEOS) there would be nothing . As you know, HP is started as a hometown airline, and the whole city rallied behind it way back when ( 23 years ago). Everybody pitched in, nobody yelled " faul" "we don't do that". Innitially, everybody handled baggs, tkts, gates , inflight just to name a few.

Again, it would be nice if the "how about me?" attitude will lessen a few degrees.

I could are less if there are any discounts, but in CLT there is no marketing. We DO have a marketing department, do we not? Or is it now my Responsibility to make sure arenas, buses, and billboards have our name on them?

The jet pull was actually an employee started thing here at T-4 by maintenance or a lady how works upstairs in admin. Not in Tempe at CHQ. The company did jump onboard though.. Hell try orginizing one where yor at see what happens?

Don't forget.........the Jet Pull is a HUGE fundraiser for the United Way which is a company sponsored charity. The employees have participated in many charitable organizations. As everyone should and it IS a lot of fun!! Employees from all levels.......CEO and down......participate in the event, as well as teams from the city so..........everyone and any one can participate.

yeah but please do not forget that you now have other hubs phl & clt. it's not all about the west anymore. i have noticed that most of the events that have been done, have been in phx. i would love to see a jetpull being done in clt or phl . i know that time will tell. but you just get the feeling that everything is revolving around the phx area. the people in the east would love to be included as well and not have to travel out west to do it.

Welcome to America West Airlines....The name has changed but they still operate the same.

NEW CARGO FACILITY
Pre-merger America West and US Airways cargo facilities have merged into one building at a new location. The new facility is located at 1251 S. 25th Place. Please join us for an open house on Thursday, Nov. 17 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. There will be cake, punch and prizes.

The company spans two continents now. Which airport has a conference room above Gate A 11? What city has a 1251 S 25th Place? I know the company is somewhat Tempe-centric now, but the VAST majority of employees are nowhere near the Valley of the Sun. How about not forgetting about the Eastern Seaboard, Europe, the Caribbean and Central America, and Canada and their lack of central Arizona knowledge?

For those of you feeling left out, here are some company-wide volunteer opportunities -->

Employees at East have had so much cut to the bone they've had the "fun" beaten out of them. There's no time for stuff like that. If one joins a club, or takes on an extracurricular activity in the workplace, then one's work goes unfinished and one gets reprimanded. Wonder what happened to the Management Club? The Jazz Band (remember that, old timers?)? PWG? MPA? Who has time for any sort of frivolity? USEast used to do stuff like this, but after so many years of cuts, cuts, and more cuts, very few have any spirit left to do anything other than run at mach 1 for their ten hour shift and wonder if tomorrow will bring a pink slip.

Thank you for sharing your own personal experience. There are many at US West who are full of life and vigor. Our hope is we can make a difference. We would like nothing better than to share our spirit with you. Hang in there.

I wonder if Doug factored in the costs of the incessant whining of SOME (not all) of the US-Easterners when he agreed to this whole deal. Some of them are now sucking the life out of the whole airline. (Yes, yes; I know; you have been beaten so long that you no longer have any life left in you; "management" has treated you so badly you no longer know which way is up; poor you; etc. etc.; got it.)

Or is the fact of the incredible, life-draining, woe-are-us, victim-mentality of SOME (not all!) of the US-Easterners now dawning on him, which is the reason for the reports last week that "full synergies may not be realized" ...

Good luck to those of you trying to make the best of it. I hope your positive energy can overcome the negativity.

IT WILL! But, I have to say as a customer I have not seen the negativity (at least in the past several months) at the counter or on the plane. This forum is where a lot of folks come to vent so they can remain professional at work. IMHO

Hey Bear

I'll take the whining on US over the prison matrons on UA any day. Maybe you should stick to what you know.

Find out about joining Cactus Club--an orginization within the company run by employees to do things in your city with the club paying most of the payment to do things--for example we had a steak and lobster buffet and a show at the eldorado casino in reno. We paid 27.95 for week day and the maximum the club would give us if approved is $25.That means we didn't pay much. You all need to look into Cactus club---$1.00 per pay day taken out of our checks. Good deal even if you only go to one event. Your local reps find the stuff to do with suggestions from employees.

To piggy back drifterreno on the Cactus club, the club's purpose to help promote employees getting together to have fun together...and cheaply! Great program.

i couldn't agree more. from day 1 it's been nothing but PHX and LAS. we had to repaint the ENTIRE FLEET of aircraft including Express aircraft because the blue paint will get too hot in the desert (at least that's the line that was presented). if it was for another reason (morale, time to repaint anyway) say so but not because of the heat in the desert. Geez!
