Well Kind of.

Just saw that effective April 6th, Piedmont will replace Mesa for Express Handling. They will take over Both Customer Service and fleet Service on the date. So as of 4/6, Piedmont will handle the Express Operation in All Three Hubs.

Sounds like a set up by Doug and company......

Since no-one has the scope language at US to handle all these express flights and with Piedmont taking over more and more across the system....

My gut feeling is that the writing is on the wall for outsourcing on a much larger scale!

This is a management team of "We can save a dime over what we are paying now so let's do it, regardless of the consequences." such as poor customer service, more missed bags, no accountability, and the list goes on and on....

By the time the unions have a chance to get back in negotiations, it will probably be too late.....

I hope I'm wrong, but sure looks like the direction we are heading here...

What direction would that be? Piedmont is taking over a function previously handled by Mesa, so I'm not sure how that changes much as it relates to outsourcing mainline jobs.

EN may be taking over PHX but that probably came at the cost of the fact that as of March 14 they no longer have the contract at ABE for Fleet. So begs the question are they taking over in other cities at the expense of departing other cities? Express Jet is taking over ABE and wondering if theyre worse or better than EN I never heard of them except for CO express

Piedmont is also taking over the handling of express operations in the majority of the cities that were just announced in the latest round of layoffs in 11 cities....causing severe hardship for yet another 176 hard working employees that helped keep this company from the brink of extinction in most cases long term employees, being replaced by low wage, non-company employees who could give a rats a** about the rest of us or our customers...I see it first hand in my station daily...

they also handle all the express handling in CLT and PHL, now PHX so what that means is, it's looking like there will be one company handling all express operation across the system....

Now you don't have to be a rocket scientist or a brain surgeon to see where this is heading! If you need me to spell it out, I will, but hope I don't have to...

If the AFA was not in place...The F/A would be OUTSOURCED as wel..
So this is wave of the future @ US Outsource...

NOT!!!!

The company cuts a deal with CWA. Piedmont is represented by CWA and mainline is represented by CWA.Whipsaw the unions

This announcement has NOTHING to do with IAM fleet service jobs in PHX. It only involves non-union US Airways Express ground and customer service operations.

Why is everyone up in arms over this? Piedmont has proven their worth as the Express Station Operator in CLT and PHL, and they are worlds better than Mesa or any of the other outside contractors. And, since they are a wholly owned division of US Airways, the company can more closely monitor costs and quality control. This is GOOD news for PHX and for the company as a whole.

Are you that blind?

How does M&R tell the company to run its express ground handling operation?

Do you have M&R Envy?

The Mesa Air employees here in PHX are being told $10 top out. Most of them are taking pay cuts.

Well. This is interesting. I heard it from a reliable source in PIT management that Jetstream will be taking over Express ramp operations in PIT, and NOT Piedmont. What's up with that? You would think the company would want to put a wholly owned company in charge so they can keep a close eye on expenses and quality. Anyone else know if this is true?
