Pilot job action?!

The bottom line is that both sides need to get back to the table and be realistic in negotiating. AA can move more towards the Pilots side since the TWU folded up like a cheap Chinese lawn chair. The TWU gave in without a fight. Our fight is over. Now the two sides need to get on with it so we can get back to running an airline. We need to get our customers back in believing we are back in business. We used to be such a great airline. The delicate balance between management and its workers faded away. We need to get that back. We know the company asked more than what was required in BK but they sold the judge on it. All this talk about liquidation is nonsense. It creates fear and intimidation. I think we had enough fear and intimidation for several months now. Lets support each other including the Pilots. Management will come around and settle. May not be what the Pilots want but it will be better than what the company is currently imposing.

Just tired of the big boys lies! Giving back does not work!!! 26 out of 27 year in a concessionary contract!!!!! and 10 more years coming. The sad part is bad info by every group is the new normal.

Working by the book is fun!!!! it drives managers nuts!!!! 100% for the Pilots!! no matter what comes down.

Do you have any idea what you are talking about or do you enjoy posting unintellectual pablum? That $4 billion "in the bank" is not even AA's money. Its collateral money. Unlike the other carriers which filed for BK with DIP financing, AA was able to secure $4+ billion before filing for BK. This gives AA more "room to beathe" and better financing (lower interest rates, etc.) then trying to get fnancing while in BK.

Its like taking a $20,000 personal loan, putting into a personal savings account and then telling saying: "look people, I have $20,000" in my savings account.

Some of the false comments here.... 🙄
It isn't a rumor or false comment they filed with 4b in the bank, how AA acquired that is debatable. There is nothing simplistic or bland about many people losing their jobs under the ruse of bankruptcy. We have given back for 10 year,s that is not "unintellectual pablum" . This is coming from one of the hardest hit work groups in this bankruptcy, the mechanics. The question is now "do you have any idea of what you are talking about?"

You left out the $25 billion in revenue with 40,000 less employees and 300 less airplanes.

If you subtract the aircraft order how much debt does AA have? How much did they have in 2003? AA's BK was a farce, a scam to defraud the workers with a hyped up imaginary crisis. The BK laws have been corrupted and its not the first time in our Nations history thats happened. Bankruptcy codes have been repealed on several occasions. The time has come for another look at what has become a bigger scam than Ponzi could have dreamed up. Maybe the APA will bring it to a head.

We know the company asked more than what was required in BK but they sold the judge on it.

Required for what? Required to avoid liquidation or required to make AA the most profitable airline ever with a $3 billion a year profit? Thats the problem with the law as it applies to businesses, they should use the same standards as they do for individuals who flie for BK. The Judges in Wall Streets Court don't consider the reasonableness of the plan, just whats needed to implement it. If AA would have said they needed to make $10 billion a year in order to "attract investment" the judge would still ruled the same way. The pilots are right to challenge this whole farce.

I agree that Liquidation wasnt really ever impending but what do you think will happen if AA actually reaches their goal? Do you think they will all of a sudden be willing to give you back your pension, your vacation, sick time, retiree medical or your holidays? Do you feel that after making them number one they would be willing to make you number 1? The AA that you worked for is gone, probably never coming back.

They are only "self destructive" if we end up worse off. That will not be determined for a while. It is up to the company to decide when it ends.

So what is your solution? You think we should not write up maintenance items?

The decision to placard or replace an item is a maintenance decision, not the captains.

Keep writing but try and do it on the way out of the country field trips are so much more cost effective : )

We are with you safety first...

Rumor at afw tonight is that over 100 Tulsa mechanics are at DWH working pireps, any truth to this?

I agree with the Pilots 100%. The company could have negotiated in good faith and it would of cost them the same amount or less than there spending now. It's costing AA more in cancellations, pissed off pilots, pissed off customers and all the OT they are paying mechanics...AA could have done the right thing and met the pilots half way. It's obvious they have the money because they are spending it now....Corporate Greed Bastards.....

I guess this week there is a new trick:

" I understand that the pilots might be frustrated but they need to grow up, today I had 2 very nasty species at the gate; first one (not flying out of our gate) started to print 15 flight plans (same one 15 times) occupying the printer for more than 10minutes, using 1/3 bock of printer paper. We had to run to a different gate to print our dispatch paperwork. Then, later on, another came, at final boarding call, to the gate wanting to print his flight plans. When I asked him if he could give me enough time to print my final paperwork, he snorted before storming off. By the way he by-passed an empty gate to come to us in final boarding. What are the odds that this was not another cheap attempt for further delaying a flight? If not, were they just plain "unhappy" people?

Did it ever cross your mind that the printer at the other gate was inop or barely readable?
As for the "15 times" in "10 minutes", utter and complete hysterical and slanderous BS.

That would mean an flight plan can be printed in less than 40 seconds. Nice try. I feel lucky if one prints out in less than 5 minutes.

Don't know the reason why the guys acted why they did, I usually wait or check with the agents before printing for 5+ minutes. You might want to ask yourself the real problem. That would be despite the shiny new terminals and podiums at the gates, who ignored the fact that pilots need unrestricted access in the immediate gate area to check weather and print flight plans. It's almost as they intentionally ignored the need as if it didn't exist.

Maybe next time you can print up a nice copy of the flight plan to be ready for the pilots when they show up or exit the plane. Southwest does it.

I used to print up the flight plans for my turns, but they wound up in the trash most of the time.

Here is very interesting summary of a conference call amongst APFA members and the APFA leadership. Please note that there are several typos due to the fact that this information was taken from notes. You will see a very detailed description of where we stand and some explanations of where the merger process stands. After reading this summation, I personally throw my support and apology to the pilots because after reading this information I understand that what is happening, as unpleasant as it may seem, is necessary to bring about the final outcome that that vast majority of employees of this company wish to see....a merger with USAir and the expulsion of the current set of upper management. Note...the information is lengthy and may take more then one post.
