P.S. I hate flying too. Not the actual act of flight itself, but everything that leads up to it.

No I didn't miss the point, as I never said I hate flying, so not sure where his comment of "I hate it too" comes from. My reaction is based on the 95% of his post where he condescendingly looks down upon me and others who spend a TON of money with AA, and who LOVES AA EMPLOYEES.

That is why I come around here, to try and see things from your perspective. Just because I pay a lot for a tix, doesn't mean I don't love the hell out of AA, and if you love AA, it means you love the employees, because that is who we see. Now I love management because of their choice on aircraft orders, ameneties, AAdvantage Program and other decisions, not on the methods they employ to work out contracts with employees, though I also think employees share some blame in that as well, nothing in life is ever one-sided. But 95% of my experience is due to the employee. So I just hate it when an emplopyee casts me to the side or pasts judgement on me without having any idea of who I am, esepcially when I'm doing everything to keep the paychecks coming in.

They say they want to lay off maintenance personnel and yet they are going to increase staffing. Overtime is not increasing staffing. Are they going to hire AMT's to increase the staffing? After the WARN letters and the impending layoffs do you think that we are going to go out and give 110% to move the metal. After all the lies the company and TWU threw at us during the past several years who has the enthusiasm to go the extra mile anymore. Most of us are burned out and mentally frustrated not knowing what our future holds. I will do my job as always but do not look for me to jump hoops and hurdles. Too much FAA oversight. The smallest writeup can get my tickets yanked. Like I do not have enough on my plate to worry about.

By nickel and diming the mechs (doing away with shift diff, paid lunch's, and penalty hours) then buying ALL 17,000 and ALL pilots computer tablets, how does that make any mech want to work through lunch to get a flight out on time. Don't worry, we're told if we want more pay we can work more OT, if the management decides to offer it, but I wonder how that effects their bonus?

Then to boot when I go to non-rev, I can't get on flight so I pay to fly another airline only to see our flt crew flying on them for free and their flt crew flying on us for free. I feel like AA does more for flt crews from other airlines then they do for me.

Is that really the best you can do?..

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to prove pilots are writing up stuff at a rate higher than it was a month ago, or "discovering" problems close to departure. We've all seen it at some point or another. It's as predictable as calling an onside kick with two minutes left on the clock and being down by 8.

Even one of the mechanics here seems to be pointing the fingers back at the crews, rather than take the fall for what y'all are trying to do.

It appears that the lunacy within APA that manifested itself with efforts like the $40M fine, PDP and electing Lloyd Hill is back in season with a vengeance.

And no, that's hardly a laughing matter.

The way I have handled writeups has never changed in good times or in bad. It doesn't matter to me if it comes in broken, or if it breaks 1 min before departure or if a f/a or a ground person tells me it is broken.....if it is broken it gets written up. Sometimes it inconveniences the pax or commuting crewmembers (including myself). I work at an airline where I'm under an injunction to not write up items to make aircraft late or cause problems. That being said I have not changed the way I write things up.....if it is broken or even intermittent I write it up, otherwise it will never get fixed. If it is a legitimate write up no judge will have the guts to put you in jail.

Sure sounds like a job action to me. Those dam darn overpaid union mekaniks better get on the ball and start fixin these darn arrowplanes.

If only the public knew what is involved in maintaining a commercial aircraft to airworthy standards. If they knew what and how many employees it takes to move one aircraft from departure to arrival cities.

My guess. Company math, they reduced flying by 3% but havent let any mechanics go yet, so according to the bean counters, even though they havent reduced the fleet, we have more mechanics, 'per flight". So even though they are full of crap they arent lying.

Well it does for you and I'm happy for that. I can see that you're happy when you think you're paying more for something because you feel that you and a handful like you can save this company ?

I've worked with Albert Casey who groomed Bob Crandall, and these guys together and especially Bob layed the ground work for AA's future. Bob was credited for the FFB programs that are still a vital part of AA today.

The clowns that followed ripped up Bob's play book long ago.

Yesterday's FC seat was priced to return a profit, today's FC seat is heavily subsidized by concessions given by AA workers Pilots, FA and Mechs Unions and other AA groups.

Without these subsidies that seat that you claimed to have earned would not be there. So like it or not, whether you payed ten times more than the guy next to you, you're still sitting in a subsidized seat.

How many times have you come across a maintenance item that is not normal?
When things do not function correctly they are NOT normal. I put blame on the leaders of this company. They are clueless on how to operate an airline. When you blame labor one day then high fuel prices another day then back to labor and so on....and the company continues to post losses in addition to executive bonuses continuously being paid out that is a reflection on mismanagement. The greatest assets of any company is its work force. Unfortunately AA does not see it that way. They see us as the root cause of the companies failure.
One more thing to add. It wouldn't be lack of spare parts another reason for all the delays and out of service, would it?

As a stockholder and former (now retired) employee, I certainly don't think the pilots are throwing the mechanics "under the bus". This is job security for you. How many times have you had a supervisor over-ride an item you wanted to fix? Why shouldn't every item be in working order? I have been in a long thin tube with one lav placarded and the other "goes out". I have worked long flights where the entertainment system (or large parts of it) are inop and the flight gets dispatched. Pax lights out, seats not working, (just placard and move the pax), and that is on the inside... Now is the time to cry "uncle". Hold the company accountable to the level of maintenance the employees and flying public deserve.
This is what happens when management oversteps need, does not negotiate in good faith, gets into a ****ing match with the people that actually make the company run and take bonus payments for doing such a "good" job. Not to worry, some of the unions can't protest those payments but there will be many of the former employees that will yell loudly and clearly on your behalf. By the way, how is not protesting bonus payments a cost saver? That should have NEVER been allowed in the bk filing.
