Pilot Job Cuts

does this bid (if so i can't not find it) include the return of any mainline planes? what will the Mainline fleet number be and end of june 281????

as i recall, 29 hulls over then next 2years (05/06) will be returned to lessors.

assuming that it would be wiser post summer flying, that would guestimate about 10 -14 planes this year using the standard 13 per 130-182 positions. now what is the age 60 number during the same period??

thanks

javaboy,

I don't have the GE agreement handy to give you the A/C return schedule, but 10 Airbus' are scheduled to be returned this year and 15 737's over the 2006/2007 period. Suffice it to say that some A/C returns should be included in this bid.

Likewise, I don't have the retirement numbers handy but age-60 retirements should run about 100-120 per year for the next few years. Currently, early retirements and resignations (you have to be 50 to take early retirement) are running roughly the same. Keep in mind that early retirements now translate to less age-60 retirements down the road.

FWIW, the mainline block hours that the May bid is based on are up a little less than 3% from the Feb bid - presumably a combination of the rolling hub, more point to point, and seasonal increase in European flying offset by return of some planes.

Jim

I'd be willing to bet that a substantial portion of the increase in block hours also comes from the additional late-night bank at CLT (between 2245 and 2315); I cannot say how good the yields on those flights will end up being, though. Southwest doesn't do a lot of flying that late, though Delta does have departures in the same timeframe from ATL.

yes that was my overall view basically a wash from retirements vs staffing. thus anothter 2 years of treading water or basically staying in one's realitive position

Hey.....Maybe they will furlough "Out of Seniority Order" for the sake of efficiency 😱 ??

Now wouldn't that be ironic.......eh Capt A320Pile-it  ????

not enough , pilots still have to take a 25 to 30% cut in pay for this airline to make it.

Blah..Blah....Blah...

Give it a rest will you for cryin out loud.

It's my understanding that the first A319 to be returned to GE is 726UW

This is supposed to take place on Monday after PIT Base Maintenance gets it ready to depart.

How about 726US? There is no UW in the database.

726US was one of the Finova lease returned planes from the first bankruptcy brought back from GYR after the company had to park the Airbii during the injunction granted to the IAM during the outsourcing lawsuit.

Funny this one is owned by the same company who owns the New CRJ-701 that PSA just took delivery of.

Thank You for the correction Bullwinkle (aka) Mr. Know-it-all.

The symantics or the legalities not withstanding...The planes are departing along with the people. That's the only issue of concern

Chill, I asked a question, no malice meant towards you.

Good luck to the pilots that are cut.. JetBlue is hiring.. Take your Airbus
qualifications and get a real job.

You will be a captain in 2 years..

I have heard on great authority that there will be no more fuloughs at USAir because the Jetblue pilots have organized a campaign to prevent further furloughs at USAir. They heard a rumor that USA320 is close to the edge.
