A lot of talk from the west has been you guys agreed to binding arbitration, you guys agreed to ........,,,,,,,,/////

It was a runaway mec for a year, it was a train that could not be stopped. Regardless of what you think, I will agree to the liquidation of US Airways, before I would allow the alpa induced Nic award to be approved. The proof of the runaway train is below. The alpa boys voted themselves in again, while 2700 out of 3100 voted USAPA. I am proud of the fact that I voted alpa out. It is too late for me but I love the fact that Jack, John and Tina are voted back to reality. You are now working for the agreements your lazy buts allowed, but did not think would ever effect you.

Their are a few names that worked hard for US Airways pilots that you will see on USAPA. Jay, Al, Therasa and others on the list below, thanks. Don But and other cowards, bu bye.

alpa put the PHL lec group in receivership, then elected themselves back in. The 2700 out of 3100 pilots said this is enough.

The alpa update below is no longer on the alpa web site, hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

This is MEC Chairman Jack Stephan with a Chairman's message to the pilots for Saturday, March 1st. Trusteeship.

US Airways Unit of the Air Line Pilots Association Reelects MEC Officers

Mechanics, gate agents, flight attendants got date of hire, pilots did not. john prater worked with J Baker of the regional carrier america west when they became alpa, US Airways pilots were fodder for the payback from prater. See you guys on the unemployment line, I am only fighting for the pilots of the future.

Nos,
You may not have to witness the demise of LCC! But you may have to watch your fledgling union vaporize and the nic stand.

Mechanics go by date of classification and date under the contract, not DOH unless hired directly into the mechanic classification.

The IAM has a dovetail policy for mergers, your own ALPA brethen voted it out.

AFA has DOH in their bylaws.

We have spoken our minds to our alpa "brothers" in the last few days. Since then we are out of "brethen".

Dan Sicchio was elected Central Air Safety Committee Chairman

This gentleman deserves to be part of USAPA also. Classy guy. Professional.

"Mechanics go by date of classification and date under the contract, not DOH unless hired directly into the mechanic classification."

Did you mean sir you can be hired as a mechanic and not be one?

And how can a mechanic be hired and not be hired directly into the mechanic classification?

A person can be a ramper, utility or stock clerk and be upgraded into a mechanic position.

Many Mechanics were former Utility who were hired as Utility, then upgraded, so they have a date of hire, date of classication as utility and mechanic.

Some were Utility, then Stock Clerk then mechanic, so they hold three dates under the CBA.

Their date under the cba is used for vacation bidding, date of classification is for shift, days off and bid area.

Sir, I have heard that a license is required to work on an aircraft that paying passengers fly on. The people that clean the bathrooms and stock beverages on the airplanes are not required to have a license. How are you upgraded to mechanic, is this length of service? Or are you required to learn an actual trade and take a test for this?

They go to school and get their A&P, Dalfort had a school in CLT and many Utility and Stock Clerks went and got their licenses, take the test and pass, then put in for an upgrade which is done by seniority.

And no you dont have to have a license to fix an airplane, the person signing it off in the book does, US and HP do have have some unlicensed repairman working on planes in the hangars.

And no one in maintenance stocks sodas on airplanes, that would be catering.

Stock Clerks handle the aircraft parts.

Both the pilots and the FAs looked at PBS as long ago as 1991 and it has turned out to be a non-starter. One big reason is the company limits the computing resources resulting in about a 5% solution. The FAs looked into it in greater detail than the pilots and, eventually, even they were not impressed.

The east bidding system has numerous opportunities to modify ones line of flying, and, for instance, giving up a daily bid sheet for PBS is considered unacceptable.

The pilots have consistently tried to computerize things like the daily bid sheet but the company seemingly wants to control who goes into what trip. Costly micromanagement seems the word of the day these last twenty years.

Well that's too bad. Sounds like the majority will be against it in the new contract. Oh well PBS was nice to have while it was on property. Thanks for the non emotional replies.

I've no personal clue as to how your current system works out there, what's required, what the costs are/etc. My immediate/knee-jerk response, from times of old (yeah...I know...easy there) 😉...is that it wasn't worth much for us to fret over years back, but; you may have something considerably better in place. I'd say anything that might offer improvements to pilot life is worth a look.

Well I wish I could add some constructive input to what the necessary parameters and costs of PBS are, but I claim no expertise in such matters. I defer the discussion of the nuts and bolts of a good PBS program to someone else who can fill you in on that information. Just a happy end user with the product that is delivered month in and month out on the left coast.
