Pilot seniority arbitration award is out

I am an unethical brain and if half of the pilot group was such we would not be in this situation. Spinless whimps.

I just checked, there are no 737 f/os available for tomorrow, period!

All the pilots at USAir are true professionals, but after this seniority list I can't imagine any FOs being in any state of mind where I would want them in the cockpit, for at least a few days and maybe longer.

Every FO and furloughee just got told he will be an FO until he retires, some for 20+ years, and will likely be on reserve duty the whole time too.

I hope everyone can keep their head straight inspite of all the beatings that never cease.

You guys just can't sit back and let this happen. Take a big a$$ stand and don't put up with this travesty. This is the worst ruling that could have possibly happened. Pull out of ALPA and start your own union -- F THIS CRAP!

Later,

It's about career expectations. I know my views which are primarly the west's views are not popular with most of you guys but it is what it is. All furloughs before this merger have been put behind all actives, why did you think this would be any different? because some have many years of service? They didn't expect to come back, plain and simple. That's why most got new jobs elsewhere. I bet Colello never expected to wear a mainline uniform again, now he's a B757 fo with over 300 pilots behind him. He's probably not even on reserve anymore, not so with Odell. He's still on the very bottom with NOBODY underneath him. What about his expectations that he had when he came on board?

You people say windfall due to all the attrition, but not all the east that are retiring are Captains, alot will be Fo's. On the west, we have retirements primarily from the left seat, a lessor rate yes, but never the less there pretty much all capts. And what about age 60 going away? it's gonna happen and when it does you won't have much complaining about us "stealing" your attrition.

... I bet Colello never expected to wear a mainline uniform again, now he's a B757 fo with over 300 pilots behind him. He's probably not even on reserve anymore, ...

Boy are you a hoot.

Did you know that "gullible" is no longer in the dictionary.

You must think the all of us are unethical and brain like you.

We got a less than optimum integration because we were greedy and stupid. Anyone who had half a brain and read the merger policy knew DOH was not going to happen.

Were I you, I would seriously consider primping your resume because you are gonna be on the street shortly, if not sooner.

3) He could take the company into bankruptcy very easily to force 1113c motions in the court, then watch out on what will happen to pay and positions. This would also allow him to getlower airport rents and other contracts. Could be a huge win for him in long run and just cause pain to the employees while the investors win.

Yeah I can't wait to hear him tell the wallstreet investors. "Yes we lost 3 Billion over the past couple years but at least we have the 1113C motion in our side pocket"

That is not true - with over 200 retirements a year on the east and no bidding restrictions to speak of, the west pilots will be able to advance into these vacancies at the expense of east pilots.
I'm not going to argue with you. Nicolau ruled and he didn't agree. Binding arbitration runs this risk for both sides.
I believe it's pretty telling that there are not any west pilots on here complaining about the award.
That's because the award is closer to our "relative seniority" proposal.
If the west pilots were concerned about the east voting for a contract they can forget that - I think the east guys will vote down any contract and continue to work under their present contract just to keep this unfair list from being implemented.
That's called shooting off your nose to spite your face, or some such metaphor. When people are angry they have a tendency to lash out in the easiest direction regardless of the logic in doing so. So now you want to punish us. Real smart. When the raw emotions wear off hopefully logic will set in again.

can someone explain how Doug and Scott engineered this result. those guys are good.

And how long do think it would take for the west to agree to be used as a whipsaw against you?

Simple question you must ask yourself. If on the day before the merger, your past CEO said "we're liquidating unless we merge, and if we merge with AWA, this is what the seniority list would look like"

What would you have chosen?

If, that had been the case, I would have chosen merger.

However, the former CFO and a former General Consul both reitereated that the first US bk was to transition the US accounting system to a "front organization" and had nothing to do with "reduced" revenue. The second bk was publically announced as a "union interdiction".

Personally, I would have welcomed liquidation, but I knew (from people much smarter than you) it had little likelihood of happening.

Basically, the root beer folks wanted access to international through Star Alliance. The root beer folks have proved they cannot handle the increased sophistication required.

End of game. Phuck 'em.

Asking for DOH was a major FU. The Arbitrator couldn't give it to you anyway due to ALPA merger guidance. They wasted all there time on a non starter issue, Why? because thats what the pilots wanted. AAA bet on green, the should have went with red or black when playing roulette.

On the other hand the arbitrator was supposed to preserve career expectations to the greatest degree possible and by his own admission, did not do it. West did not bring widebodies to the party, but if operations were merged today, they could step IMMEDIATLY into the widebody jobs. This same arbitrator denied immediate access to the widebody flying to the Shuttle pilots in that seniority award citing the fact that they had none. Then he turns around and awards this flying to the West pilots almost unrestricted. He protected 500, but seniority #818 is a Captain on the A330 effective July one. Sooner or later West will push him and others onto less paying equipment.

Makes NO sense to me.

You know, driver, you will be known by the company you keep.

You chose to support the Shuttle arbitration yet you oppose the natural consequence. Perhaps you represent the mental problem that exists here at US. You are insane.
