Pilots to start major disruptions

And that is why I no longer fly on US. As a paying customer - who flys every week - I don't really care who's job it is - that isn't my concern. And if the employees all want to fight with each other and get nothing done - so be it - but I certainly am not going to pay to be inconvienced by that. Other airline employees have taken pay cuts as well - and are no where near as mean, nasty and unhelpful as US employees. And yes - that is a generalization - but it is the truth more often than not - so live with it. Some of you are nice - and I say get the heck out of dodge if you can - because the majority of US employees are going to take the company down along with the new management.

Nobody, I mean Nobody has taken the cuts and kicks in the teeth that US Air employees have taken. Now that the airline is profitable (Second only to SWA), we demand payback.

You may be demanding payback - but in the process you are driving away your most loyal customers - which in the long run is not a smart business move. While I agree you all have taken a hit over the years - if you don't want to do your job then get out - don't make the rest of us suffer because you are miserable. It isn't my fault - so don't take it out on me when I'm on the airplane - in fact - it pisses me off even more when employees of US are rude and won't do their jobs since I stuck with the airline through many a bad times - but I've had it - as far as I'm concerned the best thing that could happen is if the whole thing goes down the tubes and a real airline took over PHL as a hub.

That is just it...we are JUST DOING OUR JOB! It is not our fault either, it is the fault of incompetent management and a bankruptcy judge that has no moral fiber. And yes I am miserable. I hate every day I come to work and I start dwelling on the fact that I hate US Air a day or two before I must return to work. I am holding out to see if the arbitrator screws me in June (I fully expect it) and maybe then I will bolt. Maybe the dude from some "Third World Country" with questionable credentials flying your pink arse around will make you happy; that is the future.

And you know what - if I just "Did my job" I'd be fired faster than you could blink since I don't work in a union protected job - so I don't exactly have any sympathy for you.

Well for twenty years at this dump I have been doing much more than my job too. No more! I have worked nearly every major holiday and weekend for twenty years. I have no friends or social life, because I am NEVER off and when I am, this miserable outfit assigns me a trip and I have to come to work, because they do not staff the airline properly. I missed my sons birthdays, Christmases, never got to see him play ball. It was part of the job. What do I get in return? Management and a corrupt bankruptcy judge takes my future away. Am I looking for sympathy, heck no! Go fly Southwest! Just understand, I for one, am very angry and I am ready to do whatever it takes to get justice!

you know what frequent flyer , your talking to us like we're corporate workers , we're not , we are the hard working , laboring americans who do the dirty work in the industry , it sickens me that you have no sympathy for middle class and lower middle class americans , the only thing you seem to care about is the service you recive and the price you pay . While that attidute disgusts me it's all to prevlant nowadays , and that's why our country is spiraling down , all we care about as americans nowadadys seems to be ME and the BOTTOM LINE ....

If you don't like the fact that americans are fed up with their shitty working conditions and you want everyone to stop complaining about it , then go live in europe .

There you go - all I care about is what I pay and the service I get? So you are saying that you don't mind getting bad service at a store or restaurant or at the car dealer when you take your care in for repairs? I bet you do! And I would beg differ on your opinion of your working conditions - there are many people who work in far worse conditions that you do in the US.

And you bet I care about what I pay and what I get for it - if I pay a fair price for something - than I expect to get what I pay for. I certainly don't expect the same level of service at McDonalds that I do at a fine restaurant - but I do expect service that is relative to what I am paying for. And if the service staff at the car dealer is unpleasant - you can better bet I'll take my business elsewhere.

One more thought - while I agree that Dougie and his troops are doing pretty much everything they can to drive LCC into the ground and make it a horrible airline to fly on - having mean, nasty and unhelpful employees only makes things worse. I get that you are frustrated - but to have a ticket counter employee stand there and look right at me and ignore me when I'm trying to check a bag - there is no excuse for that.

Do ever stop and think that maybe you might be part of the problem too? Between Mgt and the employees - if you drive off all your customers - then where does that leave you? Is that your revenge - to put the company out of business?

1.st of all , while i DO care about the working condtions of people outside of the united states , our primary goal should be to ensure that we do not IMPORT those same conditions into our own country .

on your second point , oh yes i behave the same way , because when i'm a coustmer , i have no idea what's going on , and in most cases i don't care anyways , in that respect i AM part of the problem because too often i am apathic to the working conditions of others .

Also put us out of bussiness ? sure , i wouldn't mind , i'd rather see every unamerican company go down than see them standing there tearing down our way of life .

Finally , you are what's called "a causualty of war " it's not pretty and no one want's to be one , but someone has to be .

This guy is flame baiting. If he quit flying US Airways why is he on this forum. Doesn't make sense. Notice he is a newbie. All may not be as it appears.

Yes - I quit flying USAirways this year - but I am a Million Mile Flyer as of this year as well - so certainly have been through the ups and downs with this airline as a customer. And quite honestly - I wish I could fly US out of Philly - it would certainly make my life much easier than flying United and always having a connection. I am on this board because I am soooooooo frustrated as a customer - and nothing more - so it is as it all appears. And - my opinion - as you have probably figured out by now - is that there is enough blame to go around for the current problems at US - it isn't all just Dougie and his crew.

If you think pilots at US are lower-middle-class (or even middle-middle class), you are smoking something. The median household income in this country is around $45k.

OK Enough Already!!!!! Mr. Frequentflyer has made some very valid points. Just remember, a lot of these FF that sign onto this website ARE interested in the company. They HAVE been jerked around by our management and because of this managements mindset has put the airline into the toilet. Just walk through "F" terminal anytime,it is disgusting. Walk through "B" and "C" terminal at night..embarrassing! Like I have said on other threads, these guys have lowered the bar and salaries to such a low level, I don't know if we will ever be able to dig ourselves out of it. The best time to fly is in the mornings. All super senior employees who are "old school" airline. The way I have seen some agents, especially these new hire losers, talk to our pax is irreprehensible.
The way they dress and speak is ghetto. This is what we want representing this carrier??? You are right Mr. FF, I have seen EXACTLY what you have seen and have wanted to ring their God d%$med necks! I work around these people everyday and am resentful that my 25 years with this company and trying to provide good solid service has been lowered to this! I am truly sorry.

Thanks for the response! I really do appreciate employees like you who care. Too bad there aren't more of you these days.

This bee-hive sure is buzzing. You people need to do something that will f*ck with the company, but not the customer. A while back I met a guy working air-freight for $7.00 hr, he said he used to work for Eastern Airlines, yes the company went out of business but the union won! Pick your battles & fight to win. I hope things turn-out good but dont mess with the customer they are the basis for your paycheck. This from an old guy that was offered two oppertunities two years ago "take the retirement now, or we'll find a way to fire you within the next two weeks". Keep the customer happy, but everything else you can do, do-it.
