After all we have been through, do you welcome the chance to rally behind your airline again, and leave the negativity behind?

It can happen, Continental is a purfect example of an airline that went for the ride to the bottom and now has that employee and customer loyality that many of us long for.

Weigh in with your feelings on the subject!

Your polls are a waste of time, go work for Gallop.

And CAL had to file BK a second time and brought in a CEO who treats the employees with respect and dignity.

How many Ford Explorers has US given out to its employees?

CAL does not declare war on the employees as US does.

You've got to be joking. CAL actually bust its unions. As bad as things are at US, it has yet to explicitly try to bust its unions.

Good point,

We are just trying to get our costs down, many are taking it personally.

It could be much worse....

IN A HEARTBEAT!!! I love many of my coworkers and I love this job AND lifestyle. Like many, I am just tired of being treated like the enemy. I just think more can be accomplished when you value your employees instead of constantly putting them down.

BTW, did anyone see the CPAN2 segment about Amtrak the other days. There are alot of similarities with regards to the treatment of labor and funny enough, what those card carrying "bitter" union members actually accomplished when they were recruited for a private railroad. It alluded that those people who seemingly thought were entitled to their jobs just wanted a willing and able management team. These employees, when treated correctly, had much to offer to his company. Well, that's what I got out of it. Interesting. 😉

1) If you don't like polls, take your negativity elsewhere
2) We too are in our 2nd bk
3) Things can change, new CEO's come and go (as they did at CAL), and
4) It is possible labor relations could change too

Of course there are folks out here that are tainted and will never come around too...are you one of them?

CAL busted its unions back in 1983 under Lorenzo, there was a differant CEO when the 2nd Bankruptcy hit then Beuthene came in and rebuilt employee relations and treats the employees with respect.

CAL is not doing any union busting and hasn't since Beuthene took over.
Maybe if you took the time to actually learn what is going on over at CAL and what has happened you might actually comprehend it.

Like I said how many Ford Explorers has US given out?

CAL's F/As are one of the highest paid in the industry, $53 an hour for a topped out International.

The Pilots are ALPA, F/As are IAM and the Mechanics are Teamsters, so unions made it back on the property.

To take the appropriate lead in these cost reductions, President and Chief Operating Officer Larry Kellner, who becomes chairman and CEO at the end of this year, has agreed, effective Feb. 28, 2005, to reduce both his base salary and his annual and long-term performance compensation by 25 percent. Also effective on that date, Executive Vice President Jeff Smisek, Continental's president-elect, has agreed to reduce both his base salary and his annual and long-term performance compensation by 20 percent. Both Kellner and Smisek will also decline to accept their annual bonus if earned for 2004.

Additionally, the company's three other most senior executives (Jim Compton, executive vice president-marketing; Jeff Misner, executive vice president and chief financial officer; and Mark Moran, executive vice president-operations) have agreed to reduce both their base salary and their annual and long-term performance compensation by 20 percent, effective Feb. 28, 2005.

And what kind of paycut did Lakefield Take?

Oh and when it becomes www.useyourhead.com Message boards, then you can decide if I am allowed to post or not.

Will do. 😉

It has to do with hope and competence. Nobody has any confidence in the ability of this management team, either as leaders or managers. In fact, they've shown themselves to be completely untrustworthy and business buffoones . . . . . a poster child for the decay of American business ethics and competence. Their huge bonuses to senior execs, fiddling for two years while the airline burned, and now the crock-tears of their serial bankruptsy speak louder than any cheap talk.

Like I've said before. somebody better be watching the back door of CCY.

Pride in this company? You're kidding, right.....

I take pride in my work and the job I do for the people that pay my salary - the passengers.

I take pride in the fact that I have made many good friends among my co-workers over the years.

I take pride in the fact (hope??) that if I have a normal retirement at 60, it will (hopefully??) take more than a phone booth to hold the people that will shake my hand, tell me they enjoyed working with me, and wish me well.

Take pride in this company? I don't expect that to occur in this lifetime.

Jim

I agree Jim. Over the years, Ive made many friends, working collegues and customers. Many of our customers I know on a first name basis. Our employees are the very best in the industry, bar none. A fact that has always escaped management. But this company has a revolving door in CCY with exec's coming in the front and taking truck loads of money out the back door. I have no respect for any of the past or current crop. I respect my job and that of my fellow co workers. WE are face of USAirways. Lakefield, Crellin, Glass, Doc Boner, and all their cronnies, can go fly a kite. I wouldnt give any of them the courtesy of a hello or time of day.

You clearly remind me of TV when I watched Kerry repeat over and over and over the same things. No good info for the future just dwelling on the past and pointing out, in Monday morning quarterback fashion, all the apparent things gone wrong. You know what, he lost. It is not effective to repeat the same thing over an over unless you are trying to teach your kid something. Here, you are dealing with adults that can make educated decisions.
In addition, YOU have portrayed yourself as a hard core union man who is clearly one way. So your opinions can only be taken one way. There are no two ways about it.
Do not point out what other co. have done as compared to US, unless your going ot be fair and state why we US does not do it. You see, you can't do it because no matter what, in your eyes, IT' ALL THE COMPANIES FAULT.
Right?

A rose by any other name, though in this case, it's a turd by any other name.

Personally, I think we should get rid of the business majors, and put airline people in charge again.

The we should call it:

P.S.A.
Piedmont Southern Airways.

Then "catch our smile".
