What's new

PSA and 900s

Todays US Daily mentions the 900's. Check out theHub or Compass for the short paragraph. Mentions that a proposal has been given to PSA. 20 firm and 20 options.

What it doesn't mention is the offer is contigent on the Pilots staffing these airplanes at their current pay rates, NO INCREASE FOR BIGGER AIRCRAFT. Not even a negotiation for it, Tempe walked in here, and put it on the table and said, "It can go here, or there or there or there" yes or no...do you want them. Please respond by Aug. 1st.
You call this a change to the labor relations we've had on the east??? You gotta be kidding me. An airplane that will increase seats by 30%, ASM's by double???? For the price of flying a 50 seater...ya great deal. Also latest stats show PSA is #1 in performance figures compared to all other express carriers, every month this year but 1.

The resounding voice so far....has been NO.

PSA mgmt. did agree to sit down Mon/Tues (maybe a few more days) with our negotiating comm. But not alot of info has come out so far. Rumors say it's not good.

Another rumor.....MTX hangar for PSA is being built in TYS.....interesting...

Kids "negotiating" with people (and I use the term loosely)
with actual real world experience. It doesn't seem quite fair. It isn't. They're out of their league, and with their militancy...out of their minds. And, so, out of their jobs. Bye bye PSA. Another B.S. organization with semi-pro management and a former real airline name, bites the dust...Via Con Dios...but just go.

Nice flamebait kimbets.

This is Jerry Glass style negotiating. Everyone knows he is a one trick pony -- artificial deadlines and threats.

Bring it on Jerry!!

Airways management wants the 900s at PSA so bad they can taste it. They can't transfer our flying to another carrier because it would cost too much. Airways profit margin is extreemly thin -- one slip and you're in the red -- there goes your stock value -- there goes your financing to merge with Northwest.

Hey Crzi,
I'm getting the impression that you have changed your stance on this issue....
I learned at my first airline gig to vote no early and often, there will be enough people willing to give MGMT anything they want to pass any crappy deal. At least I can honestly say that I voted no....

Not right or sensible, but true just the same....

Bluestreak

I would not be to cocky about PSA being the only place Airways wants to put the 900's. Like in the past Airways will do what Airways does. I am sure MESA and AirWisky would love to step in and somehow get those 900's. If they do it probally will not cost Airways one thing other than a contract extension. Granted you guys are the "preferred alternative" but nothing is written stone. Good Luck Guys.

I dont fly for Air Whiskey....but that was a nice rant! As I said on the other thread, I must admit, I'd rather see the 900s go to PSA than to ANY contract carrier.

what about piedmont...why can't they have the ability o fly jet planes

What difference does it make whether Piedmont has "jet" planes or not?

The size of your paycheck and the quality of your work rules should be your only concern.

Besides, according to this month's Aviation Intl News the turboprop is having a resurgence. Continental is seeking Q400s. Freedom Air will be flying Dash's for Delta out of JFK.

You may find that in an era of ever-rising fuel costs, Piedmont is perfectly positioned for growth.

Jets are for jacuzzis. 🙂

hey i bet the piedmont pilots have the need for speed and want to feel the power from the thrust of them jet engines. Yippee !!

I just ask for something that will make it through the day without being grounded four times for maintenance. Tired of cancelled flights due to a/c falling apart. Yeah, yeah, I know we get cancellation pay, but I'd rather have a reliable piece of equipment to work with.

Amen to that. The only time I care about speed is when I'm on my way home. Other than that, give me something that's reliable, and will haul the guy needing the jumpseat to get home.

The union said no. We'll see what the company comes back around with.

Jet Engine? Do they not already have a jet engine that turns the prop?

Screw the jet stuff and show me the money. I am turning into a management type person since all that matters is the size of MY paycheck, stock options, bennies!

 Wow, PSA said 'NO'. Pity they didn't say the same thing when J4J was just a ridiculous idea put forth by the AAA MEC. 😉

Well, if PSA really did say 'NO', which I find hard to believe, enjoy having those balls for the short time you'll have them. Because they will surely wither and drop off when US Airways announces that CHQ or MESA or Air Wisky or Horizon or China Southern or Zimbabwe Express or some other shitbag operation gets them.

PSA became a certified shitbag operation when they sold out their brothers and sisters at ALG and PDT by agreeing to J4J and bottom feeder payrates for the CRJs. There is now no shortage of competing shitbag operations who will say 'Yes' to Airways' terms.

Maybe saying 'NO' will precipitate the sale of PSA. And if the weenies at PSA thing it can't happen because 'we make too much money for US Airways', take a look at the MDA deal.

Good luck with the MESA integration kids!
