Pulling Out Of Fort Lauderdale

I'd like to see something more substantial to this rumor. The operation has been running barely 6 weeks. Come on, people! I would expect they let it run a whole season first.

TSA, Customs and Immigration are not the issue in FLL. Customer processing time is performing above expectations. The problem with FLL is purely an ATC demand issue. With the level of GAA traffic this time of year, the demand for FLL is much greater and causes delay programs almost daily.

Also the pull down of some of the service in FLL was purely a lack of profitability / bookings. Not sure I agree with this since we never gave the service time to develope. If we are looking for markets that we can walk into and become instantly profitable and a huge success, they will be looking for a long time. Until we can change our public image and become a much more reliable, customer friendly business, it just won't happen.

As of 2PM:

Due to VOLUME, SEASONAL, there is a Traffic Management Program in effect for traffic arriving Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL). This is causing some arriving flights to be delayed an average of 20 minutes. To see if you may be affected, select your departure airport and check "Delays by Destination".

This may be due to the line of wx across central Florida - for traffic heading north from south FL there is basically only one route - over ORL - and two for arrivals from the north to south FL - over TPA and along the eastern coastline - excepting the overwater route off the east coast both ways. Diverting around wx tends to start mixing northbound and southbound traffic, so delays result.

My recollection is, that some time ago, FLL posted on their website incentives for airlines to offer new int'l service. I suspect that has something to do with US Airways FLL focus city. I suspect once the incentives end, so will the focus city - unless US Airways has really found an untapped market.

I have a couple of friends who are working in Fll that say that the hub there will be moved to TPA or MCO later this year.FLL has been a disaster with the use of one runway. In fact tonight there was a GDP program in effect. It seems that almost every day that there is some kind of ATC delay program in effect for FLL.

Yeah, it's moving alright....to the annals of aviation history.

It will however live on in the USAAOFAHAI

Its a new 20 million dollar center/museum that is has been proposed to go up in late 2005 in DC near the Smithsonian. USAAOFAHAI stands for USAirways Archive of Failures and Half Assed Initiatives.... It is expected to draw over 40 visitors a week and FFOCUS members will have free lifetime membership benefits plus they'll have preferential seating on the Business select exhibit where they will be served coffee in our new cups that were designed by elementary students enrolled in various afterschool art programs throughout the US.

The staffing will be minimal as most exbits will center around kiosks where tour guides in India and the phillipines will narrate the tour via the latest in telecommunications technology. For those that do not understand the tour guides english subtitles will appear at the bottom of the screen.

The expected favorite attraction will be a ride called the A320pilot Spin Machine that through excessive use of left rudder, the phrase "regards" and hypnotic imagery will leave riders believing night is day and day is night. As you exit the ride a representative from Amway will greet you to tell you about the exciting opportunities they have to offer.

Of course the center has projected operating losses throughout the year and up until sometime in 2019 unless the employees agree to further concessions...

Who is supposed to figure this stuff out BEFORE the poopie is on the fan?

How about MANAGEMENT!

FLL already had GDP's everyday, even before US moved in. US doesn't have a commanding presence either. Delta and Southwest have just as big of an operation as US. With clear skys, the departure delay is usually 45 min during certain peak usages. The arrival delays are the same up to a ground stop status, with clear skys.

To lay blame? Sorry I just find it ironic how you often are looking for someone to rat someone out or to get find specific names yet you often are preaching that others are always pointing fingers and they should get over it and work together.

One definition of accountability is responsibilty to someone or for some activity.
One definition of blame is to attribute responsibilty.
Related thesaurus terms to blame are both accountability and responsibilty.

So I am not sure where the not blame but responsibility argument was going.

See there you go again.

IAM 1776 is not responsible for some rampers calling in sick, also in that local is Mechanics, Stock Clerks and Utility, funny those members did not call in sick.

Stop pointing blame where it is clearly management's fault.

STOP IT NOW! If this digresses into another UNION thread, all parties involved in the off topic discussion will be given time off.

it had to have been Baldanza with a power play with the acquiescence of Crellin?
