A Question Jester.
Would you change your mind...IF...an unfair attendance policy resulted in you being Terminated ??

First, let's understand something.... my single biggest objection to the attendance policy has been its retroactivity whereby sick calls and late shows were being held against employees when it was not so much an issue at the time of the occurrence. In all honesty, the retroactivity did not affect me personally, as I rarely call-in sick and I am rarely late, thus the issue of me being terminated because I was on a Level from the outset of the policy would be highly unlikely. As such, I would not have been the type to game FMLA, because I would not have been on the brink of being escorted off the Property. So to answer your question, "No, as I wouldn't have been in that position."

However, I fully appreciate and respect those who were legitimately ill and found themselves on a Level 3 from the date of the policy's inception, and I am sympathetic towards those who are abusing FMLA in order keep their jobs because of this policy. Now if for some reason, I was to find myself suffering from a serious medical condition, then of course, I would exercise my FMLA option, which is a legitimate use. Unfortunately, there are several individuals I know in PHX who have FMLA, not on a Level, and they call in "sick" just because they want the day off. It is an open secret, and those co-workers become unreliable, and a morale issue and along with some contempt... that was my point.

So Rectifies Jester.

Ah yes, the Friday and Monday Leave Act (not my words, just not that creative).

Oh, I know...Someone from the IAM is going to step forward and tell us all what happened to our lousy 2% raise. Lets see, no new CBA in effect after ours runs out, so now we can wait until friggen JULY to get it. No way they could hold off on that dues increase until July though.
I'm losing more faith in this crew as each day passes, and I don't expect much if anything out of them as far as a new CBA goes....
Nothing more than a bunch of clowns lining their own pockets at our expense...Very Sad to say the least.
Anyone care to bet that what they bring to the membership won't contain any retroactive pay language? Hell, I don't think any of these guys even know what it is.....

My favorite was the statement years back "there is no such thing as retro" always mentioned by the leadership during negotiations during the few "good" years in the industry....and then the IAM negotiated a  "Retro Giveback" ?? Now after a few decent contracts negotiated at other airlines, we sometimes get a "signing bonus". Kudo's to the leadership...we went from a yearly 2-3% raise to one now stretched to 18months....

Wings I can tell you what happened to our 2% the IAM fucked us pure & simple.

I don't mean to be crude but the evidence is simply irrefutable that Delaney will never come through for anyone. One only needs to look at how he blew each negotiations on each property already.

Hawaiian airlines: Delaney promised them that if they vote for him, he will reduce part time and also get part time on the full time pay scale. His battle cry became "Equal work = Equal Pay". You can cross reference this on the iam141 website under the hawaiian airline negotiations updates. However, in the end, he agreed to increase the part time levels by becoming the first IAM president to agree to agree to the non-union 'ready reserve' language. He also agreed to limit these part timers to a top out of only $10 bucks at Hawaii. He also agreed with management that all other part timers should only top out at about $12 buck an hour or about 60% of full time. The Hawaiian contract sucks and they also have to pay for parking. Never mind that he signed it while Hawaiian was making millions in 2010.

United Airlines: Decided to scrap 3 years of negotiations when management told him it would NOT negotiate with him unless he entered transition talks to help further the merger along. So, after 3 years, Delaney redid new proposals and new surveys and gave up a HUGE amount of leverage. So, when they restarted transition talks, you guessed it, management came in alot lower with a regional airline contract proposal. Now UA negotiations are a real and serious mess. Delaney claims he knows what he is doing and refuses to have an attorney by his side in negotiations.

So, if you simply go by the ineptness and the complete and utter lies, US AIRWAYS members should expect similar results. If he follows his UA botch, then he will play games in negotiations then, if there is a merger, he will throw all the negotiations in the john and throw the US AIRWAYS members in transition talks. That's the path that he has clearly followed with mergers. If there isn't a merger, then you can bank on him being extremely soft with no ability or capability of building solidarity since he is simply not even close to being a leader.

Ah, the retroactive pay cut. Who could forget that? An IAM exclusive.

I'm still "confused" over that one!

Any union that utters those words isn't worth a damn... I have worked in completely unrelated industries, and I have personally seen retro pay specifically negotiated as part of the CBA. Getting retro is never the easy part, as the Company usually balks about giving raises for past work, but just about everything is negotiable.

So Opines Jester.

Canale truly was pure management as that 2% pay raise over 18 months can only be seen as another concession. That said, I hope Delaney has proposed and stand by additional monies going back to January 2012 and he doesn't have a negotiations position that negotiates off the basis of July. Better yet, let's throw down the dopey 'cant tell ya' negotiations strategy and put the occupy141 platform template over negotiations so that members can be kept fully informed like other unions do it.
