Sick-Day Logic
Top three reasons to call in sick when you're under the weather? One: Extra rest helps you recover. Two: Your coworkers don't want what you have. Three: No deadline, expense report, or presentation is worth upping your risk of a heart attack. A what? That's right. Researchers found that overweight, hypertensive, or otherwise unhealthy people who came to work sick had higher rates of heart attack than their call-it-in peers. Scary stuff.

something to think about. unfortunately for most of us we don't have a choice.. work or don't get paid...

Research also shows that people who maintain a healthy lifestyle and maintain a healthy weight have fewer incidents of illness.

Amazing, I had no idea that going to work sick is bad for you.

In other news, researchers have discovered that the sun rises in the east.

sorry js,
should of revealed my source.. got from real age.com

So should I have done all those back-to-back LAS redeyes, racking up points in the casino for free buffets, or just stayed home?
All I seem to rack up on in LAS is begbugs, and a bad back? Anyone having similar problems? Or sometimes I have the wonderful view of crack addicts, and drug lords in the alley all nite long! Wow, what a place.
Seriously, if you are sick, please stay home... It is bad enough dealing with sick pax's on long flights. 😉

In other related news, reserchers have discovered that the Volkswagen Bug has much more head room then the Ferrari Testarossa. However they also discovered your chances of getting Head while in the Ferrari went up over a million percent over that of the VW Bug!

It is never about using sick for sick it is all about abusing sick which people do in droves!

I once heard a worker say the company doesnt pay him sick pay when he is sick so he goes into work. The place he likes to hang out is the managers office. He figures they want him to come to work sick so the least he can do is spread his illness to them.

I wonder if we all did that how many managers would beg the company to bring back a better sick time policy?

The OP was talking about using sick days when you are sick.

It is the company that abuses sick people.

I am sure (and this would apply to any and all companies) that far more employees take advantage of the sick policies then ruthless managers who punish truely sick people. Throw militant unionism into the mix and I am sure they have more "Fake" sicks then the non union work force!

Come to false conclusions, then invent opinions to support them.

Militant unionism at US Airways?

How did you get to be UPNAWAY anyhow? More like Dazed and Confused.

So you do not think that unionized worlers call in sick more than non unionized workers?
I am sure those statistics are available if you want to dig for them. It is untiative that union workers call in sick more, than non union workers. It is not rocket science!

Figuring out what 'untiative' means might be rocket science.

If you are saying people in unions have some protection if they are sick and call off, that is probably true.

Thank you for pointing out why unions are good for workers.

Also, without a union most of the FA's likely would have been terminated, for one reason or another, long ago. Without a union most of the individual FA's would have lacked the resources to fight a termination and it should be abundently clear that the airlines prefer a junior workforce to a senior workforce.
