Many of us at US West are non-union, non-management employees and may have to vote to unionize or not to unionize. Please make your case in an informative manner so that we can make an informed vote if it comes to one. Name calling, finger pointing, venom spewing will only weaken your case. Here's your chance to really make a difference.

why are you organizing a union vote for your employee group. If so what union would you like to represent you. It sounds like you are going to have a vote for your work group. I did not know there was a union election or campaign going on.

I'm not organizing a vote. Just want something to go on incase there is a vote. Pros and Cons to make an informative decision.
Is there a campaign in your work group or talk of organizing

Union organizers are always looking for a contact person to get things started. You sound interested

they only want some info or opinions...nothing more.
I am sure somebody can get them in touch with a union organizer for information and company has plenty of highly compensated anti-union consultants you can get information from

I thought it was against the law for a company to obstruct union organization? Anyway...I'm not interested in organizing anything. Just some opinions pro and con.

No obstruction just info do you need a vote card

Currently I'm trying to have a neutral position, keep an open mind, and gather some information without stirring the pot. Looks like I might have failed objective #3 already. So no I'm not ready for a vote card, but thank you for asking.

Go back and read the topic about what will happen if I sign a card.

There is a very real possibility/threat, call it what you want, that there will be a number of current non union, non management employees, that will be acreeded into the union..........there are equivalent and/or similar positions on both sides.........the old US Airways are union and the old AWA is not. So........will you be acreeded into the union or not? Who knows.......no one knows for sure.

So again, go back and read the topic. It should answer your questions. If not, PM the topic starter and he will be more than happy to explain it further and answer your questions.

So you do not know if you are in a barganing unit or not why don't you know..

Because there are similar/equivalent positions between the old US Airways and the old AWA and on the old US Airways side, those positions are unionized and they are not and never have been unionized at the old AWA. And due to the merger, the possibility exists that those positions will be/could be/might be acreeded into the union........all because of the merger and NOT because anyone at the old AWA wants to be under a union.

Thank you for that detailed explanation. Hit it right on the head!

That's why EVERYONE needs to be informed and make a decision. Better to have a vote than to just accept what is forced upon you........we all have a choice.
