My friend... The proud men and women who made up the union you speak of in terms of history no longer exists!!!!!!!!! Todays unions are 99 percent politics... It..they are gone forever... The US Post office is a prime example of how unions do not work anymore. Dont let the facts get in your way...The real facts not yours!
Sadly the union movement is dying a slow painful death. Mostly because they are Dinosaurs and have steadfastly refused to change tactics. Much like post WWI French military strategy of building the Maginot Line to defend against future German invasions. So Hitler went through Holland and Belgium into France where no fortifications were. Union leaders are France and the corporations are Germany.
Ubions have been operating out of the same Playbook they used during the WV Coalfield Wars in the 1920's. Corporation's OTOH have used their political clout to have the so called friends of Labor enact such laws as the Railway Labor Act to be "Fair". Fair to whom? Well boys follow the money and the money sure as balls didn't come from the UMW of A or the USW of A. No, it come from the money guys looking for an advantage which FDR was all to happy to give them. The unions bought the whole line of bullshite, hook line and sinker and ensured their ultimate demise. Once the laws were passed outlawing secondary strikes and prohibition of any strikes under certain circumstances the Labor movement was toast.
Since unions NEVER changed their strategy and tactics it created a cottage industry for our ever creative legal community. The Union Buster Attorney. Jerry Glass is merely one of a cadre of highly specialized attorneys whose sole reason to exist is to crush unions by any means necessary. Union buster attorneys will break the labor laws with impunity as they know a group, say FA's don't have the financial resources to fight back. How so you think DL stayed non union?
Look right here at the pilot situation and the millions of dollars in personal wealth that has been squandered. Not due to the company's actions but due to the arcane and asinine Labor laws designed to hamstring Labor under the guise of making it "Fair", which as flawed is as concept as rules in a knife fight. In the modern global economy, organized Labor has about the same chance of growing and winning better wages as Custer did at Little Big Horn.
When it comes to government, less is more!
Less Government = Freedom from wage slavery
Less Government = Freedom to organize by any means necessary
Less Government = Freedom to strike whenever you like
Less Government = Freedom to organize secondary strikes
Less Government = Freedom to be completely stupid and strike yourself right out of a job because the company is no longer economically viable.
The last one is the one unions get hung up on as they work on the convoluted notion that business conditions never change and ergo their CBA's must never change. Anyone who can fog a mirror knows the only constant in business is change and that is accelerating this very minute.
