I cook and serve food to many homeless vets each week at the local shelter.

The ones that are a result of all the heroes here like Southwind and Townpete who call for us to "fight them."

POS's that have no skin in the game, nothing to offer but complaining about not going after "them" over there, whoever that is or where they are today. All the while complaining about exploding budgets that provide the tools of war for those same people.

Of course they then complain about too much government, while complaining that the government is not doing enough for them.

Otherwise, it's The Crusades all over again.

Historically speaking. Western forces won the war. No one stuck around to colonize Jerusalem and the reat of the conquered Arab/Islamic lands. The Muslims bide their time, defeated, but with no reason to change. A few generations later (~200 years...) , the western armies and occupiers returned home, having effected no real change amongst the conquered people, paving the way for 650 years of Muslim rule.

Until the rest of the countries in the ME stop supporting the terrorist groups and the countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia ... etc there is little that can be done.

In liu of that we can start heavily investing in alternative power sources. Put solar and wind in every home and business. Start building public transit. Raise the CAFE standards. Tax vebicle registration based on milage, hp and weight. If we can break our dependence on oil we can tell the ME to pound sand and let Russia, China and who ever else want their oil deal with the insanity.

We (the west) built the ME. We tossed people together who were fighting for centuries. We put despots and dictators in power against the will of the people. And we wonder why the ME hates the west?

You'll only kill the poor in our country. Middle class bank is close to breaking. All your ideas come with a very large price tag. In the end, oil will still flow from the ME for a century or two.
Best thing going, I think is an excess of oil on the market. Soon, OPEC will start to collapse and so will terror dollars.
