Sen. Specter sez fly SWA!

I cannot say for sure but it would seem that three factors satisfy your question:

Average segment length on many of the East Coast segments are shorter, plus RJs(fewer seats over which to distribute costs), drive ASM costs higher.

The higher profitability is a factor of higher ticket prices over those segments due to less competiton over those segment routes.

You can look up the labor rates which do not seem to be the root cause.
Thanks for the reply.

Yeah its called AMERICA even CO did it twice and look where they are or did you all forget that. its legal in AMERICA to do it and start brand new even if you have to do it TWICE.. now back to the facts... You now have WN in a bit of a quandry... hmmm we know there is not much to be made in PIT and we only went there because we thought US was going out for good and now they are in the playing field again and if there was money to be made in PIT ofcourse we would have done it 2 years ago.. and we operate too many 737s in the PHLPIT market and NOT filling them because many a US employee has no problem traveling between the two cities because their flights are always full and they operate the flights according to market demand which US does with a combinaiton of a/c ranging from 50-146 seat a/c which makes total sense and our last major expansion in PIT was to BWI so we could compete with the local DCA traffic and when you add up the car rental and local transportations the consumer doesnt save that much.... hmmm well we will expand in PIT while we discontinue service from PHL to the west coast .. you CANT make money from PHL to the west coast against US... man something is wrong.. yeah concentrate on PIT..... hmm we have no choice all eyes in PIT are on WN.. ok we will expand and LOSE but if we kinda make nonstops into 3 stops that will be okay because we still service the market like what WN is doing in PHL we drop nonstop service to CA points but you can still fly us there making 1-4 stops enroute.. GOD BLESS.

I wonder how many stockholders of CO stock that were burned in both bankruptcies fly them today? Yep....it's LEGAL in this country to drag down an entire industry via bankruptcy courts? Do you think Delta or Northwest would have had to file if the courts weren't so easygoing for U and UAL in their bankruptcy trip(s)? Do you think U might have done better had it not been for liberal bankruptcy rules during CO's trips? Of course...if you count AWA, the U has THREE bankruptcies under their belt. How many times can you fail before the courts say...screw it?

LOL im sure the old stockholders who held stock in CO during those TWO bankruptcies went on and made money elsewhere. you and i are not part of those elite members but to go over and over at US i feel is uncalled for. what it is . is what it is .. your hatred for US is not shared by the millions of americans who are flying today. the airline business will take care of itself ive seen it during my 31 years. like i said its AMERICA and lets get the war president out and look back at what he has done to the housing industry where in the state of Massachusetts there are over 10,000 homes now in foreclousure and because of his BANKRUPCTY LAWS now favor the the creditor who have put the American consumer through their lending praticies put the low prime consumer into BANKRUPTCY. US is making BIG bucks even with its problems.. we are not alone. we are making money and dont have a great product.. come on.. its the PRICE STUPID.
