What's new

Shack and Bake,

<_< --------- Well people, I feel it's time for me to move on with my life!------- I hope you all can work things out with the Company! I feel blessed! American came along just at the right time in my life for my family, and myself!---------- If you need me, I'll be on the beach at my little piece of paradise in the Caribbean, taking in a little sun, surf, and a beer, or two! Life is good! ------------ God Bless!----- Over and out!!!
Nothing but the best wishes for you and yours. What a ride it must have been for you over the years. Many, many stories to tell by the pool with a cocktail in hand. 😀 B)

No sh-t, the pilots loved them but they were a maintenance nightmare. The acm's were the size of grapefruits that fit through an egg shaped hole near the nose of the fusalage. POS airplane that made me alot of money on OT, along with the SCUD.

We were installing the APU one time and two guys in suits came by and one asked me why I thought the acft were getting damaged during the APU removal/installation. I told him it was because the airplane was a piece of ####. He looked surprised and pointed at the guy beside him and told me that this man was the engineer that designed the whole tail section of the acft. I told him he should have done a better job and walked off. The next day we had a dock meeting with the manager and he told us if someone asks us our opinon of the Fokker 100 and we don't have anything good to say then don't say anything. Haha. If you ever had a question for the Fokker engineers, they started their explanation with "This is the best aircraft in the world and you Americans don't understand because you do not make airplanes as good as this one." Never saw so much plastic on an airplane in my life!

This F-100 did not have it's tail burned off in TUL while on engine run did it?

Yep, POS Barbie Jet.

I can rember using a big ### screwdriver to get the exhaust boot over the plenum, also I still have a 3/4 inch dogbone, but I forgot what that was for. The pilots that I talked to said that it can fly inverted in the sim, who knows though.

No, that one had a section of the exhaust duct removed. Don't remember if warning tags were in place though. I still find it hard to believe that we bought a new tail section for that thing.

Maybe that is what is causing the bankruptcy talk in the other forum.....

No. Apparently the line used a fish pole set up to remove and install the APU and this was causing damage to the .020 steel track that the APU slid in and out on. The tail of the other one burnt up in the dock. The tail pipe was removed and there was no system in place to keep the APU from starting up. Three crews from two different docks were working the airplane at the same time. There were no warnings about the tail pipe being removed. After the tail was workhardened, it needed to be replaced. The crews working on the airplane were not communicating with eachother evidently and the airplane was damaged. The tail sat in the corner of the hangar for a while and it was called "Fowler's Paper Weight." haha

Yep, I remember it sitting there (forever) with little holes cut into it so they could get their hardness numbers.

To get back on topic, it was 105 degrees today when I got home at 3pm this afternoon. My wife had hamburger meat thawed out on the counter and wanted me to cook burgers on the grill. I told her its to hot to be standin' over a fire in this heat, I'm going to whip out my Foreman, that I haven't used in 15 years, and stay inside. Best effin' burger I've had in a long time! Yes, the George Foreman grill has withstood the test of time, glad I didn't throw it away 15 years ago when I got married.

Excellent idea. It's currently 109 here in Woodland Hills (western end of San Fernando Valley) and I'm not anxious to fire up my outdoor grill for tonight's cheeseburgers. Indoor grill, here we come.

Skip the grill -- just lay 'em out on the hood of the car. They'll eventually cook thru. 😉

I think its borderline hot enough to cook ribbs on the ramp....It was 156 the other day with calibrated digital guage...
