So what's the secret to "quoting" on here....?

I've tried everything I can think of to quote comments on here to no avail. What am I doing wrong? I've tried copying and pasting, hitting the QUOTE and MULTIQUOTE option at the bottom of each persons comments and it never seems to work. Is it really this difficult or am I this dense?

I had the same problem with Windows, but not at first.   Something changed that all of a sudden the quote and multiquote didn't work.  I may have accidentally changed a setting without realizing I was doing it.  However, at another member's recommendation, I tried using Google Chrome.  The quote and the multiquote work fine with Chrome.   Might try that.

I just hit the quote button and got this.

Thanks, that seems to have done the trick. For whatever reason it won't work on my computer when i use Internet Explorer?

Looks like you've got it figured out?

There's also a light switch icon in the upper left of any post you make. Turn it "on," and a lot more options appear, such as imbedding pictures. Turn if "off," and they no longer work, but you can still use BBB code(s)...

I take it you're using Chrome as well?
A flavor of it.  I run Linux on my computer so I can't use Internet Explorer.  Don't miss it much either.

Well, that works for you, but the majority of the computer users use IE, and do not use Linux.  I encountered the problem when the previous ownership was still in charge.  The attitude was as long as I found something that worked (Chrome), they had no interest in pursuing why the quote quit working when using IE.

Lucky777, did you submit a report of this issue to the current ownership?  It would be interesting to know if they intend to pursue an answer/fix/solution to this problem.

I have found the current owners to be much more interested in resolving those types of technical issues than the previous regime. Emailing an Admin has worked for me previously...

I don't like IE on Windows computers either.  For a while, I didn't want folks running Chrome on our work computers, but after having problems with websites that worked on IE8, but IE10 had to be in compatibility mode, and IE11's compatibility mode was different that IE10's, so some of the web sites we have to use would work on 10 but not 11, or others that NEEDED IE11...all would work on Firefox or Chrome, so I lifted the ban.  I personally find IE to be one of the most difficult to use browsers.

Can we have an AMEN from the choir?!?!  I use IE simply because I am used to it, but I installed Windows Edge, tried it for a couple of days and went back to IE10 or 11.  There's a lot that Microsoft changed evidently for the sake of changing, but without a motivation for improvement--things that could be found in the lower left corner are now in the upper right corner, and so forth.  Something else that really annoys me is the fact that you used to be able to put the cursor in an entry field on the screen and just start typing.  Now, you have to make sure that the cursor doesn't get moved from that field, or it will try to put whatever you are typing in whatever part of the screen the cursor is located whether or not the cursor is still in an entry field.

I am used to IE from my days at Texaco.  The mainframe computers were IBM, the desktop computers were IBM, and the IBM desktops ran on Windows.  In those days you had a choice of Windows or paper and pencil.

The only time I use IE is when I do a freash installation of windows on a PC so that I can use it to down load both Chrome and FireFox.  So I guess IE does have a use for me.  lol
