Temporary Injunction against USAPA filed today

I'd like to personally thank the pilots who don't drive the plane like maniacs, only to sit in line for takeoff for however long it takes to get the cluster of planes trying to take off and land out of the way, and here's why.

1) We are doing a demo and a safety compliance check. The cheap a$$ company decided to take off all the video equipment which included our safety video, so we have to stand in the asile pointing to exits and clicking seat belts while they are taxing. I appreciate they are not throwing us into seats by driving like maniacs. I apprecaite they are considering us as we walk through.

2) People go to the lavs sometimes during boarding, and during taxi. Can't taxi out when you have someone in the bathroom.

3) Sometimes people don't have bags stowed correctly, and they NEVER have their toys and gadgets turned off. We babysit a planefull of grown people who do not want to comply with turing off their phones, and the FAA wants us to have them comply. I

appreciate the pilots who support us when we are having to deal with 198 cranky people who are above the rules.

The high cost of cheap, friends.

You are very intelligent va. The western group is not very prescient. They believe a judge will tell pilots not to write up maintenance issues and mandate taxi speeds that Orville Wright recommended. Common sense dictates the very things you say. But in Franke Air Land common sense is not common.

You are correct in that no one has ever been released when two unions have merged.
I know what you mean, but technically it's when two airlines merge, not unions. As I recall, AFA merged with CWA and it had nothing to do with or effect on contracts, amendable date, etc.

TCP??????????????? Wow we should have all kicked the bucket by now ....If you are serious and are concerned about your health I would quit especially since radiation is FAR more dangerous to you than the so called TCP LOL
Really. Educated in trailer trash u., were you?

You really should pay attention and read up on that which you pontificate. "...radiation is FAR more dangerous to you..." Wow!. I have yet to read that radiation from flying can cause a loss of balance and shaking hands within three weeks of a few minutes exposure to that which is described as smelly socks.

Why don't you start with a search on F-22 groundings? Find out why the pilots have TCP contamination in their blood, the same found in exposed US crews blood.

You can then apologize. You are welcome.

LOl Amazing! You truly need to get your facts straight! How long have you flown my fellow co worker? Had your blood tested lately? Again if you think you are spouting facts I wouldnt fly again! To use this wonderful lady as a contract tool is devilish at best. I knew HB and she deserves better that politics to cloud what a wonderful lady she was...

Yes, NOYELLOWNECK, I am afraid to work... inside a metal tube full of TCPs that are being leached into the airsystems, afraid to work inside a plane that has maintenence done by outsourced, inexperienced people who still cant fix A/C 246, afraid to work for a company who doesn't care about the health, welfare, and morale of its customers and employees, one that jerked off all the video equipment, power ports, ovens, closets, oh you know, ANY AMENITY IT COULD to shove a few more bodies inside the plane for a few more e-saver fares.

Darlin, I'm not afraid to do my job. I'm afraid of what's going to happen when we are released into a colling off period and people start booking away because our work group has had enough, and the rants and raves of people like you only add fuel to our fire, and we CAN'T WAIT for Chaos.

Kisses,

Flygirl

Quit, save your life if its that important. Or do you like the drama more than your health?

Wow! Your communication skillz need some work.

Start there, then work on accumulating facts.

You certainly don't have to see my POV but his posts have been and continue to be anti-work group, and, day after day we have crews and customers going to the hosiptal with real life documented cases of poor cabin air, yet he wants to make light of a situation that he, personally, has never experienced. He sure seems like a kool aid drinker, and that's my pov even if it's not yours.

Have a good night.

Dear Members,

In Memory of Hazel Bennett

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the loss of one of our members, CLT-based Hazel Bennett. Hazel started with US Airways in 1989 and during her time with the company earned the respect and friendship of those she flew with. She died unexpectedly on March 10 after a respiratory illness.

We know that Hazel and her crew were exposed to oil fumes on August 29, 2010 which made her very sick and sent her to hospital upon arrival. It is not clear to what degree that fumes exposure contributed to her ill health. We are in contact with her family to learn more but want to be respectful of their need for privacy at this time. When we learn more, we will inform you because we know that so many of you knew and loved Hazel, and are searching for answers at this time. We grieve the loss of Hazel and continue to fight for the living to ensure measures to prevent exposure to oil fumes on our aircraft at US Airways and throughout the industry.

In solidarity and with condolences-

The US Airways Master Executive Council

I was unaware that this was a union board. Are anti- workgroup posts not allowed? I've been catching up on old posts and have see non-employees post here as well. And I'm curious as to why you keep posting about this unfortunate person. It was posted before that it is undetermined as to whether or not fumes contributed to her illness. Wouldn't we have seen lawsuits by now? Wouldn't we see more from the AFA? OSHA? Feds? Where is all the activity that comes with these events? Personally, I think you're irresponsible for posting this as well as the AFA for wording it that way.

What you can't get around is that these incidents are happening and it's not just AFA reporting them. Being an intelligent human being you also know it's nearly impossible to prove cause and effect in cases like the one on the e-line. I am also now hearing of reports of fumes and such on West operated flights as well. Just got one in my inbox, haven't confirmed it yet.

To me this doesn't seem like a union negotiating tactic and if it is, it was planned out far better than the ham handed effort alleged by USAPA

SH,

As I earlier posted on one of these threads, fumes in an airplane are not that uncommon when talking about 1000 flights/day. But fumes doesn't necessarily equal toxic fumes (although I assume that many "ordinary" fumes would have some effect if exposed long enough - you smell smoke when grilling burgers with no ill effects, but many fire victims succumb to the smoke before the fire can kill them). I also wouldn't be surprised if there is also a "better safe than sorry" effect in some cases - people have been exposed to toxic fumes and suffered the effects so exposure to any fumes is reason enough to go to a medical facility and get checked out.

Unfortunately, we read here about crews going to the hospital after a fume incident but we rarely hear what any tests showed. All that's evident is that it seems more crews are being checked out after a "fume event". Would they have shrugged it off a year ago? I don't know. I do know that I've been exposed to skydrol mist (the fluid in the hydrolic system that has health consequences if breathed), engine exhaust, air conditioning/heating smoke from the "packs", the smell of burnt bird after an ingestion to the engine, etc over the years and shrugged them all off. While some here would say I'm not right, I don't know of any ill effects and certainly haven't kicked the bucket.

That's not to say that there haven't been real toxic fume exposures with real effects. Apparently from what's been said here, there's one or more problems that are not limited to one airplane type or one airline.
