I could give a rip what that loser's strategist thinks. First: he ran a losing campaign, second: McCain is not a Republican.

I think he wanted to run a good campaign but the religious right vilified him and they somehow got Palin on the ticket which sealed the deal. Had McCain been able to run the campaign he wanted to run, we probably would have a moderate republican in office right now.

Do you believe it is a good idea too have religion that intertwined with the RNC?

Garfield..........cut me a break......

McCain is a bumbling old progressive................same flavor, different color than the guy who won.

You think for an instant GOP didn't know it was a lost cause?

BTW-for the record.....I just re-upped with the GOP......

If he would have won we would have a"Democrat lite" in the white house. He is in a group of loser candidates that each party seems to choose every four years. You know, ones that are so squishy and pathetic that they can't get enough people rallied to give them a win. Examples: Dole, Dukakis, Kerry, Gore............

No, we would have a moderate republican. Extremism is no longer viable in this country. For someone to win public office, you have to cater to the masses, not the fringe.

At the inception of US, the majority did not believe blacks were full citizens either. Women were in the same boat.

Human rights is not an issue that I believe should be left up to a vote. You willing to put your rights up to a majority vote?

Garfield, you can even take a few steps further back. There were laws regarding just exactly which white men that could vote. In most case's you needed to own land. God forbid that a working class slob decide for himself. There were other case's where even if you owned land, then you needed to know how to read and write and in some case's be free of debt. After the American Civil War, the defeated bigots fo the south found a way to bypass the new freedom's given to the slave's by enforcing these laws. There are documented reports all over the south where literacy tests were only performed only on blacks and when someone had the audacity to actually ask to take the test, the county clerk would ask them to read a simple passage such as the Preamble to Constitutuion etc, and it would be German, French. That way it was insured that very few or no blacks would vote or attemp to vote.

What I find most bothersome is that the people who are willing to deprive gays of equal rights do not see the parallels with what was done to women, blacks, native Americans and other minorities.

I have head some argue that being gay is a 'choice'. Given that there is no evidence to substantiate that claim I find it laughable. I have numerous gay friends and none can remember when they made a choice to become a member of a group that is deprived of equal rights, beaten, laughed at,just to name a few of the privileges they are granted. I know for my self, I know for a fact I never made a choice to like women. I saw a picture of a naked girl and voila, got a chubby.

Choice or not, the14th amendment says that laws should apply equally to all people. While the law can state that only 2 people can get married, the 14th amendment clearly states that the law cannot say what two people get married.

I often wonder why people who are against or find issues to be funny are the ones who are the most obsessed?

so?

did you enjoy watching the pageant as well?
