The California AG has reversed his opinion and has sided with Gay rights activists and said that Prop 8 should be invalidated. I would not be surprised if he is looking to 2010 and realized that the 52% result for prop 8 will change in 2010 and being against civil rights would not be advantageous to being elected in 2010.

Fifty two percent of the nut cases in CA voted to infringe upon the civil rights of their fellow citizens. I do not really care why he changed his mind. Perhaps he is telling the truth that he did read the law and saw no precedent for voting on the civil rights of others. Perhaps he looked at the voting public and decided that if he wanted to be governor of CA he better toe the line and do whats right. How ever he decided to get on the right path makes little difference to me.

You talk about the Dems have little respect after the b1tch slapping the Republicans took in Nov? That's funny. The republicans need to wake and realize that bashing certain segments of our society is not going to make them popular. The voting public is waking up and they do not seem to be in favor of that line of thinking anymore. Stay out of the bed rooms, stay out of people private lives and fix the damn country. When the republican party frees it's self from the religious nut jobs and gets back to the business of governing perhaps they can make a come back.

'Gender' / 'Sexual Orientation' is not in the constitution, so how can it be a 'rights' issue?

I think they are, but are confused over this 'gender' horse crap.
God teaches us to love one another, and I do Love you 'all' but it does not mean that I have to agree with you.

US Supreme Court made no such distinction. US law makes no such distinction. USSC ruled that separate but equal is not equal. US citizen are/should all be afforded the same rights.

I do not care if you love or agree with me. I do care that all citizens be treated equal, even those who I dissagree with. Prop 8 only won by 2%. Next time it will fail if the CASC does not strike it down before then.

Um, I think you have it backwards. I stated that the USC nor the USSC made any distinction between a chosen belief and genetic make up. You would be the one who needs to find justification in the USC that allows one group of people to be deprived of rights that the rest of the citizenship enjoys.

But since you asked, try the 14th amendment.

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States;

Seems pretty clear to me. I do not see any distinction about race, gender, sexual preferences, genetics, hair color, eye color, height, weight ... you get the point. I do see the words "All persons" . I believe homosexuals fall under this category.

I have yet to meet a homosexual who says that they chose to become a member of a segment of society that is persecuted, deprived of equal rights and denigrated. I know I did not choose to be heterosexual. There is not one shred of scientific evidence to suggest that homosexuality is chosen but if that is what you need to justify your bias knock your self out.
