the great power grab

Explain how a member will vote on a motion when it is brought up from the floor at the meeting and the members arent even in the same city to attend the meeting to vote on it?

Read Robert's Rules of Order.

A single local is not the best for the members and takes away the members' rights.

When we were Piedmont before the merger, we had one local, it was 2444 in Winston-Salem, NC, yet we had members all over the US, as far as LAX, they had no chance to attend the meeting nor vote on issues, unless they took three days off to fly out to INT on a Friday, as the meeting was on a Saturday then fly back, no one is going to do that.

It has been done before and it is a failure to the membership and democracy within a union.

You need to read the proposed bylaws. None of the statements you made are correct. All members will still vote on issues, meetings will still be held in all station locations, stewards will still exist at each location, each region (based on former local regions) will have VPs that administer grievance committees, and all committees and board members will have greater financial assets to draw up to represent the members who elect them.

A single M&R local with regional VPs would be the best for all members.

It is abundantly clear as to what motivated this proposed change in the line maintenance locals - "retribution" for the lack of support for the international, and it's lack of representing the line AMTs in this latest contract sellout.

If this sham (local 591) is allowed to be put in place, the line AMTs might as well not have any union at all. In fact, it will be so bad that filing a lawsuit against the international for denying fair representation for line AMTs wouldn't be a stretch.

The solution for this problem is to rid ourselves of the TWU and its dictators, and bring in AMFA.

Hey Bob,

All members? Especially the appointed members. Go ref a softball game.

Go AMFA!

It would be best for all the twu suckees! (that's you, overspeed!)

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!

The same way we have been doing it in the TWU for years. Look at our local structure. Local 562, and when they were with 501, represents SJU since the Trans Carib merger. They held local meetings and forwarded their motions to the seat of the local in JFK. JFK then would send that motion out to all other stations they represented, if it affected all members of the local, and then a local wide tally would be made. It has worked for decades.

Don't apply what happened at the IAM to the TWU. Like you said to me, don't let your facts get in the way.

In your opinion.

btw....can we vote on that as we are supposedly a democratic union?
If we do what Bob has suggested then yes. Like he has said, if we had one local then all M&R would vote for one President. The local would own the contract. You and I, as well as every other member, would direct elect the person who negotiates our contract.

The membership should keep pushing towards a single local for all M&R.

Since the TWU has not in any way defended itself from the two card drives to replace it, one by AMFA and the other the ibt.

Putting all the line mechanics in ONE Local will make it easier if they have made a deal with the IAM. If this merger happens, if the TWU has made a deal, they would send the mechanics to the IAM since they hate TWU anyway and the IAM will get the ramp/fleet

By having ONE Local they also quiet some of the line Local officers who over the yrs have spoken out against the TWU. They even might get most of them out of office with the TWU altogether. I assume the Local will be in Dallas, So do you think JFK, ORD,LAX,SFO,MIA officers would relocate to stay with the TWU as a Local 591 Officer. Be away from their families, sell homes, just to be an officer of the TWU.

The TWU has said this is a money thing that since baker letter is gone Locals can't afford to pay officers. So from what I hear LAX had to get a loan from the Intl.
So why does the intl. still have the X treasurer who was voted out of office still on payroll with the union? He has also NOT been forced to return to his duties as a Crew chief at LAX which has also blocked another mechanic from that position since it is being held because of this X treasurer. How many more DEALS of the TWU Intl. are we going to need to happen before they get voted OUT. Such as in another thread
the people from T-town who got Title II slots over the Holiday vacation at the base.

My assumption is that the TWU Intl. is attempting to have the officers at the new Local as well as the Tulsa Local be favorite boys and fall in line with what ever. They think by closing the line locals they will quiet the line mechanics, since they no longer will have a voice.

Don't you think its Time to send the TWU packing?

Sign an AMFA Card and lets spoil the TWU's Plan and Vote them OUT.

NO MORE DEALS, NO MORE SCAMS, NO MORE TWU

Again, you need to read the proposed bylaws as well. JFK reps will not have to move and sell their houses. The regional VP will still be in the NE area. The President on the other hand, will most likely have to travel often but most of their work would be at DFW.

"YES" the Pres. will have to travel and there will be regional VP's. But how many VP's are there NOW? How many will be lost with this now going to ONE Local?

How many Boards slots will be lost with the closing of the line stations?

Are you asking the board members to run against there own station chairs since they lost their slots due to the one local?

Who is going to be the chairs of the class 2 stations since they will no longer have a class one regional station?

Or has the TWU figured away to let the current board members still scam a stipen
and draw $$$$ even though are NO Longer in Office Like the X Treasurer of LAX?

Wouldn't it be something if Bob was elected President of 591. 😀 😀

I for one would NOT want Bob as the Next Pres. of 591, I think he should give up this TWU CRAP put his efforts behind the current AMFA Drive and get rid of the TWU.

He does a good job from what I have heard for his Local's members. as it should be !!

Get on Board with US..

If you read this BOB join us in getting rid of the TWU

I'm sure he will when the TWU is gone. Right now, he is fighting for what is right within the corrupt TWU!
