Explain how a member will vote on a motion when it is brought up from the floor at the meeting and the members arent even in the same city to attend the meeting to vote on it?
Read Robert's Rules of Order.
A single local is not the best for the members and takes away the members' rights.
When we were Piedmont before the merger, we had one local, it was 2444 in Winston-Salem, NC, yet we had members all over the US, as far as LAX, they had no chance to attend the meeting nor vote on issues, unless they took three days off to fly out to INT on a Friday, as the meeting was on a Saturday then fly back, no one is going to do that.
It has been done before and it is a failure to the membership and democracy within a union.
