Are you kidding me? They expect us to do this to ourselves?

I’d rather work without a union than to have a union that conspires against us.
Do we really pay them for this?

This is all the better they can do since 2008?

I'd vote in the flight attendants union in before I'd waste my time with the TWU anymore.

If I had it my way the TWU would not get one more red cent from me.

Want to know the difference between the company and the TWU?

The company gives and takes but the TWU takes and takes and takes.

I'd rather be a member of the

than to be a member of the TWU.

Without performing the research, it would appear that all of the above mentioned organizations have an affiliation with the AFL-CIO.

Therefore the base reasoning for becoming organized has not changed. The purpose of the AFL-CIO and its unions is to provide a power base for the Democratic Party's idealism.

Anyone who claims to be a conservative that agrees to be represented by any of the AFL-CIO unions including the TWU is just lying to themselves. Think of your core beliefs and ask yourself is that what my party represents.

Notice no AMFA or AMP in your list?? And you're an AMT I presume.
Forgot, or don't care for?

Buck, aren't most unions themselves against the "conservative core beliefs". Or how are various unions different?
I've worked on both sides, union and non-union and I can see the poitives and negatives of both.

To be honest the list is a tool for my weird sense of humor. AMFA and many other non-AFL/CIO unions are included at the bottom. AMP, you bet, send me a card. I pay unions to fight for me not conspire against me.

I never really understood the opinions of many of my conservative friends in Tulsa they bash unionism and the candidates that support most unions yet they suck up union jobs and benefits while supporting the very candidates that want to crush all unions craft or industrial. It smells like hypocrisy to me but then I'll admit I don't see the entire picture, brother. Oh yeah this group also screams the loudest when a weak union brings back a concessionary contract.

Sorry, my mistake. See that....I'll get me some more coffee 😉
Good man. B)

AMFA and AMP generally are neutral politically. IOWs, they figure your political beliefs are your business.
Which I happen to like that concept. I'm an Independent.....and realize neither party represents us anymore.

I also clearly understand businesses need to make a sustainable profit are we're ALL out of business-if ya know what I mean.
And things change in the business world. Companys need latitude to make moves in the business world, we as labor with contracts should be willing to help our employer in that endeavor. So long as it doesnt' encroach on our core needs and hard won topics. I think this concept gets lost in todays world.

I know I'm not Buck....sorry guys. 😛h34r:

I would say that unions associated with the AFL-CIO are against conservative values. I m not going to bring religion into this, as that is a covenant between man and himself. I have yet to see any positives in wages and benefits. As an AMT, I have grown tired of the catchall, industrial unionism where every member is the same. The industry has changed and it is time for unionism to follow.

Look at just the total compensation of the membership. When has the membership seen a true increase?

I would have thought that with control of the country being placed in the Democrats hands that labor would've fared better. But those who control the process of unionism based on the AFL-CIO tenants, are failing to make the change necessary to lead the membership on the important issues that those they represent have to deal with daily. The political posture of unionism has achieved nothing for the average member.

As for my ability to relieve myself voluntarily from these hindrances, that is controlled by the Closed Shop, which by it's very nature is Orwellian. It is something I cannot change, but I do have the right in this country at least, to seek the lively hood I desire to take care of my own.

Your current Presidential Administration had the union voting rules changed in favor of the unions, luckily the people at DL could see through all the smoke and mirrors the unions and NMB were throwing at them and voted the unions down !

So in essence, you can't blame your current administration for not trying !

Personally , I prefer someone to pay me to work, rather than paying someone so I can work and after watching what unions have done for it's members, during bankruptcy, at several airlines, I would have to say that all those dues were nothing but money being thrown away !

Why allow an important topic like getting rid of the TWU to become wartered down with meaningless politics?

How does every topic get thrown off of it's intended course?
Is there some reason why the political mongers of our union cannot start their own thread?

It pisses me off to no end!!
No damn wonder we always get screwed!

Where are the AMFA cards? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
VOTE NO !!
MERGE WITH US AIR
GET RID OF TWU AND IAM !!!!

I posted the political references to keep them out of the other forum threads. The TWU is in the business of politics and that is a reason they need to go.

If I wanted to encourage a political fight, I would have mentioned the Republicans also. I am concerned that it is the TWU and the AFL-CIO that continually bring politics into the fray. If it was not for the political needs, would those AFL-CIO unions require a closed shop? Then a choice by the membership could be made.

How has my response being thrown off topic. I want the ability of a free election for my representation without the requirements of political affiliation.

OK Back on topic...........

It would seem that if this thing is voted down by decent margin, then a corresponding number of TWU members would vote to oust the TWU if a suitable replacement is offered.

Well BUCK, an ENORMOUS THANK YOU ! for Finally stateing what I've been saying for DECADES,..........that TRUE UNION MEN, AFL-CIO Union Men.............. DO NOT vote REPUBLICAN !!!!!!!!!!!!

Unions, yes AFL-CIO Unions..........are only as Strong as thier Members. "Weak knee'd members" get "Weak Knee'd" contracts" ( Do I have to post the TWU election results of DECADES to see which Locals consistantly vote YES) ? ( I KNOW you KNOW where I'm going with this ! ! ! ! )

WHY ( 0 ) WHY has TWU local 100 (NYC Subway) been so $$$ successful all these years ? ?
Because they have had, and still have ' B A L L S ' !!!!

Why has the UPS AFL-CIO Teamsters Union been $$$ Successful all these years ??? BECAUSE THEY HAVE ' BALLS '

WHY has the ILWU AFL-CIO Teamsters Union (International Longshoremans/Wharehouse Union) been so $$$$$$$$ successfull ?? ............. BECAUSE they have HUGE ' BALLS "

It's all about ' FEAR ' Buck. If the Company ' FEARS ' the Union (local 100/UPS/ILWU) the members get lucrative contracts. On the other hand, if the members have no B A L L S, they get SHITE ! The Union Leadership is Strong when they know thier members are strong, weak when they know the members are weak. The leadership is NOT the union, Y O U and your fellow co-workers ARE THE UNION !

Buck. Do you honestly think that the AA/TWU would be in it's current deplorable shape if the AMT's in OK., and the FSC's in TX. had voted
' NO ' (these many years) along with us ' Hard line Lunatics ' in cities like BOS/JFK/LGA/EWR/PHL ???

Buck, I think you Know VERY well what the answer would be !

Sadly the ' Chickens have come home to roost'

Real UNION MEN do NOT vote Republican !
