Things that may happen in a merger.

More from the APA:

Seniority:

Russ stated that the integration would be painful but then went on to say that McCaskill-Bond would apply and the retirement demographics would be favorable to us. (I guess the US Air guys are older than us)

Parker and Kirby have a master plan with global vision and they can execute. Reiterated that AMR management does nothing and takes no risks while Parker and Co. wants to solve problems.

Dave went on to talk about how badly the AW-LCC seniority merger was done and said that this will be the opportunity to fix this for once and for all. It will fall under McCaskill-Bond which means it will be a 3 member board that decides if we can’t negotiate a deal and it will stick. There will be some kind of hard fence for wide body pilots.

After Dave left it was back to Q&A with Rusty and Russ and I asked Rusty about the seniority merge and the Nicolau award. Dave had basically said it was not a factor but Rusty wasn’t sure said the lawyers had differing opinions on it but said it should come out to where if you are at the 50 percentile point on your fleet your combined seniority number would put you at that place. Said that this along with seat pay protection might solve the Supp CC problem but if not then it would be decided by another 3 person panel.

"Russ stated that the integration would be painful but then went on to say that McCaskill-Bond would apply and the retirement demographics would be favorable to us. (I guess the US Air guys are older than us)"

"There will be fences but they are still to be negotiated." By whom?

"I asked Rusty about the seniority merge and the Nicolau award. Dave had basically said it was not a factor but Rusty wasn’t sure said the lawyers had differing opinions on it" Perhaps not such a "done deal" as some would have it then. Who yet knows?

" Parker and Kirby have a master plan with global vision and they can execute." Whew!...Are these poor guys ever in for a shock!

They have a case of beer goggles that will tomorrow result in a hideous revelation of which tonight they cannot fathom. And as much as folks like to poke fun that USAir is the last chick at the dance.. they are applauding Parker and Kirby like they are promising 72 virgins in heaven. Yes they are promising.... Little do they know.

Whatsa matter East - you neglected this part:

"said it should come out to where if you are at the 50 percentile point on your fleet your combined seniority number would put you at that place. Said that this along with seat pay protection might solve the Supp CC problem but if not then it would be decided by another 3 person panel."

Doesn't sound much like DOH to me...

"USAir is the last chick at the dance" Sigh! You've a valid point there sir....I hope the poor guys' beer stockpiles hold up for a long time though 😉

He's making sure reality has taken hold of you.

No worries there. Has it ever for you? "I asked Rusty about the seniority merge and the Nicolau award. Dave had basically said it was not a factor but Rusty wasn’t sure said the lawyers had differing opinions on it" Perhaps not such a "done deal" as some would have it then. Who yet knows?

Between "not a factor" and "wasn’t sure.." I'll stick with "Who yet knows?" for now. Feel free to make whatever assumptions as are needed to sustain your incessant babbling...

LOL, you just can't bring yourself to include that little tidbit about " if you are at the 50 percentile point on your fleet your combined
seniority number would put you at that place" can you...

Let's see - one "not a factor", one "lawyers have differing opinions", one slotting by equipment (at 50% before so at 50% after).

Jim

You may be right, but I had to snicker at your inclusion of the Dash 8 fleet...like it really matters in this deal. American is trying to get rid of Eagle for good reason. Do you really think those Dash 8's matter one whit?

Its just part of the reason why the merger is a bad idea. Those dash's are high on cycles, parts are harder to find and the reliability rate is bad, many delays and cancellations.
It might be that having contract carriers for express routes may be the most cost effective.
I still have not received an answer as to were those dash's that served lga are going to go when the delta slot deal is fully implemented,no new express cities added and no increased frequencies that will use all that lift. <_<

Incessant babbling. Its a shame really.

My own notions of morality hardly run the world, nor do I entertain any such delusional fantasies that they ever will...unlike umm.."some" 😉
Any decent person must just do what he/she feels to be right. "Actual mileage may vary" in any outcomes.
Is it my earnest belief that it should be done by DOH? = Certainly. Can I vote for anything that doesn't? =No. Will that matter? =No.

I don't expect a DOH merged list with the APA. Seriously; what part of "Doesn't to me either. What's your point?" did you pretend to miss? 😉

What seems quite reasonable to also note is that nothing, within any APA communication yet seen, shows any great fervor for the nic. Perhaps you can shed some clear light on:
"not a factor", "wasn’t sure.." ..."lawyers have differing opinions"....???

What do you expect?

Honestly? OK; I'll assume you mean an actual question here = Unknown territory I'd think. If no accord is reached; looks like it would/will go to three arbitrators. What they might decide can currently be no more than "anybody's guess". I'd have to think that after the AWA/US fiasco, that a contract would be pre-established, where seniority integration would not impede it's implementation. All anyone has learned from the AWA/US mess is how NOT to do things, as is noted within APA communications.

OK, I should have been more specific I guess.

Do you think it will be a three way integration or a two way integration with the Nic being used for our list?

I'd think that depends on a number of variables. No discourtesy meant, but I've got to bail for the time being, so I'll stick with what I'd think your most essential concern would be: How much of a threat, if any, does APA feel regarding your group and the nic being used or not? I've yet no idea as to what weight, or lack thereof that affords you guys in terms of any leverage. We'll have to pick this up later.
