tulsa election result

Blah Blah Bkah we all know the real problem is the TWU Constitution allowing International appointments and buying off sellouts that are never subjected to the membership ballot. Yet here we are pretending once again that another Local Election is going to make a difference.

Sam Cirri won the election with 680 or so votes out of 2800 cast and now we have a "new mandate for change"? I don;t think so. barely even half even voted if half at all.

I didnt tally to bad for a guy that didnt buy and single piece of campaign material and never once even ventured outside the building I work in to campaign. I guess you could say my heart wasnt really into getting elected and having to take an oath of allegiance to the TWU. I would find it hard to stand before the membership and take the oath of office in the TWU. So I coasted to defeat, and given my wife is sick and needs me supporting her at this time it was God send to not be elected at this time. The Guardian Angels no best and I'm content, but please don;t think we have solved any of our problems with this Local Election.
I agree with you. The real problem is the constitution where the Prez can basically do what he wants. That said, a change in Local leadership isn't going to hurt if the last guy was a dope who was capable of bringing back a trash contract. I hope you guys get a good contract after you vote down the bad ones. The last thing us other union members need at other airlines is for our airline to point to some goofus TWU contract at AMR that sets the bar low for other airlines. Hopefully, Tulsa, JFK, etc are solid enough to stick together when the TWU tries to jam down contracts. I also hope you have some local leaders who have enough balls to stand up for what is fair and to challenge the INTL publically when the INTL tries to manufacture fear.
You guys have sacrificed too long so the last thing you need to do is have the mentality "Well, the union ain't gonna do no better so we might as well pass this'. Stick it up the union's arse each time as you stand firm for what is fair.

I agree with most of your post, except the "Us, We and them" part. At work there is an "Us" and a "them". "Us" includes Fleet, FAs and Pilots, "them" is management. Once "WE all" get a fair deal then we all can be 'We".

Most of what I read on here indicates that "Us" includes the Line AMT and them includes the Tulsa O/H Base. At the Overhaul Base, the "Us" includes those with an A&P and the "them" includes those without.

Really in this divided union there are many "Us" definitions and many "Them" definitions.

"Us" is always blaming "Them" and then the union allows the company to buy off "Us" to screw "Them" by bringing something like this T/A back. And now "Us" wants to send "Them" back to negotiations in attempt to get "Us" more.

I give you my prediction. A "No Vote" creates and gain for the OH A&P and then a re-vote passes. You and Me Bob gain nothing when the dust settles and once again the "Us" Line AMT will blame the "Them" OH AMT for buying off another inferior TWU Negotiated Agreement. Just the way I see it and predict the outcome of your well put together video propaganda.

go ahead and vote no now you have a fleet service clerk with a role call vote of 6000 or so mechanic I'm sure we will get a much better deal now bhaaa. And as for your comment Bob at least an aircraft cleaner is title one

True. Perhaps he can clean house with the roll call vote and get rid of all the Title I and II sellouts? I think you're on to something here.

One's job classification has nothing to do with their leadership and educational skill levels..

True, but in accordance with the TWU Local President Council By-Laws the Fleet Service Clerk in Seperate Negotiations cannot vote on Mechanic and Related Contract. So now we have John Hewitt our new Chariman of Maintenance as our negotiator.

Dale Lantz who voted against this T/A is now removed from the negotiations and replaced by John Carlise, and now Local 514 has 3 at the table with 2 voting. Who knows what John Hewitt's position is on the T/A we have to vote on.

So even though job classification may not have anything to do with leadership, we just lost our President as a voting member of the commotte in negotiations when this gets voted down.

I can't believe how many people chose not to vote...... How hard is it to vote?

PRESIDENT
Sam Cirri…………………………681
Terry Lesperance………………632
Steve Luis……………………….461
Kundal Shinde………………….370
Kevin Creaser…………………..334
Gary Yingst……………………..245
Terry Brandt…………………….108
Terry Marcum……………………57

I see the election results as an expression by the rank and file re: their anger with the previous denizens of the union hall. It would appear on the surface much of the trash was taken out but, unfortunately, it may be some of those newly installed will make up for the pro-corporate losses.

I asked around and was told Sam Cirri is not a fan of the "Working Together" lie and I hope this election spells its demise, at least until AMR does something to earn it and merit its continuance.

You call someone a sellout after your "I got mine brother" statement? Priceless!

Yep, as long as sellouts lead this union, it will create sellouts to follow.
I am man enough to admit what I do, unlike cowards I know.
Again, there is nothing to gain by pretending self sacrifice for other's is the way of this union. I have been shafted in the past by other's doing the same as I will. This time it is my turn for a change. Sorry

When I gave 5 years of my life and $17,000 + of my own money in self sacrifice trying to remove the problem from the property , those that are the problem called me names. I didnt care then and I dont care what you say now. As long I was playing the way you wanted me to play we were so-called friends or alllies. Well things change around us I tell you.

This T/A gives me $580 per month more in my pocket and 6% lump sum payment to pay co-payments on my wife's medical and maybe even alternative treatment so that I can keep her by my side. Immerse yourself completely into my shoes and tell me your choice would be any different. You have not a clue what someone may be going through in their personal life that is far more important than fighting corporate greed or a corrupt union. Maybe you're in a position to play hardball against historical odds, I congratulate you for being blessed with that ability in your life right now.

Check back in 1-2 years maybe I will play hardball with you then.

I will tell you what is priceless, and that is helping someone very close to you with love and compassion when they need it most. Along with anything available to help out. You probably know nothing about the price of that. So ridicule me all you want, I would bet everything I own that most of you given my current circumstances would think different than you do right now.

My personal opinion is that all of you self seeking greedy fools should get on you knees and pray that you are fortunate enough to remain greedy and self centered so that you can enjoy harassing others that you really know nothing about. On the other hand maybe all of you could use a little bit of a humbling life experience to make you thankful for what you do have, instead focusing all the time on what you don't have.

I agree, this feel good attitude is just wishful thinking. When all is said and done, a fleet service clerk will carry the power of 6000 with a roll call vote for AMTs, and this isn't at all bothersome? He may be a nice guy and all; however, he is only human. I wish I could share your confidence.

Majority Voting in Local Officer Elections would be a violation of the TWU Constitution which mandates plurarity elections. Thus we have weak leaders who can be bought off for the lifetime appointment to a six figure salary to the TWU International.
I believe that was one of the amendments at the Convention that Luis helped kill.

I'd rather put my future with a pro-union FSC than a pro-company A&P.

And as for your comment Bob at least an aircraft cleaner is title one

True, but I think that conventional wisdom stated that all A&Ps are elitists and would not vote for someone who is not an A&P. IIRC the turnout was high, Nick only lost by a few votes. A lot of A&Ps voted for him.

The President votes when a Roll call is made.

Only half of the members voting for a local election, the way the informer talks on this board, you would think that TUL is up in arms over the TA. It looks like the TA will pass without much of a problem. Why is it always the AMFA guys saying that the sky is falling?

If we vote down the TA won't the same guys be negotiating, you know the guys that brought us this TA. Not to mention the guy that TUL chose to lead them is a fleet svc clerk who can't vote on our contact.

I do hope that the new local 514 pres will do well for it's membership.
