TWU Chapter 11 - AA 1113 Filing

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know why the NY locals would vote NO! 30.00 in Tul is like 15.00 in NY
No NY locals are only worth what was negotiated above and beyond Tulsa, which was a $0.00 station. I tried to find the document on the 514 site, but could not.

He is Pres of NY local and I think they like his representation seeing he was voted back in after INTERNATIONAL tried to get rid of him.
He is not your typical TWU Lemming, thats why he appeals to people accross system.
What is a TWU Lemming?

I believe Bob Owens to be a good union man. However, in my opinion he is a union man of the past when men like Mike Quill ran things in NY. Times have change and corporate has gained control and is playing the unions. I believe that Deregulation had a lot to do with the change in the airline industry, but unionism did not change with it.

Jim,I am also under the impression that there would not be a vote on a amended APA,APFA,TWU contract. For when I watched the Harvey Miller (Lead Attorney for AMR ) interview, and the PBS Frontline video about how the UAL CEO Mr.Tilton ,JP Morgan Chase's attorneys (lead refinacing bank), join force's to rewrite the contract's at UAL without a single vote from the membership, If I understand it correctly. Also one must point out also that when UAL filed for BK UAL CEO Tilton ask from the courts for and was granted relief from the Judge in the form of pay cuts from all unionized work force's at UAL weeks after filing. No vote was casted on this matter at all,and later more concessions were given from a still later restructuring of the same contracts at UAL during BK. So they can seek relief right now if they what with no vote at all.

Your talking about Section 1113e, that is an emergency order the judge can sign, imposing pay cuts.

It doesnt change your whole CBA, that would be Section 1113c.

It looks like it's time for the AA mechanics to get their own union.

It looks like it's time for the AA mechanics to get their own union.

First they need to prove they are capable of being United and stop wanting to shaft each other for personal gain.
Overcoming the many division within this Union will be very difficult.
And to change union without assurances of correcting those division will lead to another AMFA/NWA outcome.

There are two parts of 1113. 1113e is for temporary relief and is almost always without a vote. An 1113e motion is usually filed very early in the bankruptcy and the company basically is saying that without immediate relief they will be unable to reorganize.

1113c is for permanent relief and entails negotiations followed by a vote but doesn't require a "yes" vote since the Judge can abrogate the contract and impose changes.

It's only a guess, but I'd say that if AA hasn't filed for 1113e relief by now they won't file a 1113e motion at all. I'd almost guarantee they file an 1113c motion unless the unions agree to what the company wants first.

Jim

I just do not see a "Yes" vote from any of the contracts on the property, mostly due to the 2003 concession's package,AMR is just wasting their time.I see no one except those who feel that AMR deserve's a break to vote "yes ".I would rather vote it down only within a matter of days AMR seeks relief. One must imagine that all work group's will be looking at something soon as to time this with Judge Lane to amend all contracts all at once as to set in motion a LLC within the company for domestic routes. With a cost struture domesticly down (with stripped contracts), they then fly A319-A320, and 737's with a much lower/or even employee cost than say Jet Blue or right at employee cost structure of Southwest 1-2 year employee on the property.Mind you this cut in benefits would be deep for a employee at AA. Also one just needs to look at the stat's in the employee reduction in head count over the years at UAL, DAL. Massive to say the least. These banks that will be involved in the restructuring will demand high performance goals to meet or exceed each quarter so as soon as they exit the heat will be on,or they end up back in court seeking more relief with another BK filing. I feel AMR should have done this long ago, they have much to do,with such a huge pressure on them in a rather stagnat enconomy, and the EU looking only worst, this could hurt their earnings report, speaking of reports whatta guess what their loss will be for 2011,ouch. Hang on to your life vest, this ride could skip the water before it heads for higher attutide, and smoother flying.

Nice post, but the TWU will bring back whatever the company tells them to and the members will vote with fear. I was really surprised that the last T/A was voted down.

Yes I was also surprised and by such a wide margin lets face it it really sucked! But now we are going to get a very bad offer and from what I'm hearing its a take it or leave it proposition. I wouldn't be surprised this one passes unless.

Great idea to vote No and push for "11th hour of the 29th day" so we can extract the companies "best offer".
We are so much better off these days at the hands of that leadership it is almost worth a celebration.

I am still amazed at the arrogance and the ignorance associated with the strategy based on a belief that a Chapter 11 filing was nothing more than a bluff.

Just one more example why hiring professionals to assist and advise the negotiators is a much better idea than using AMT's that think they know everything and cannot be told anything.

$2.55 per hour line premium and keeping your pension will be looking really good soon enough.
