What's new

TWU,TEAMSTERS AND AA

TRAVIS I would worry about things at USAir. I got a hold of a guy I worked with years ago who is based in LGA. Now works for USAir. The feeling over at USAir in NYC is they are not all convinced with the IBT because of the IAM pension issue. No one can get a clear explanation of what will happen to their pensions if the IBT comes in. Many are talking about staying with the IAM for now and waiting for the merger to be completed until we are all one group and can make a educated non knee jerk decision on union representation. He also told me that the IAM must have a CBA in place before the single carrier status is approved. Then a JCBA can be hashed out at a later date. They feel if they change unions the IBT already stated they will start from scratch. That will delay the merger months on end. AA and USAir will not let that happen. Unless the IBT lied about starting from scratch. Good luck with the vote. Sounds to me you guys are just as divided at USAir as we are at AA.

I know a lot of guys in stations all over US east and west LAS/PHX/DFW/PIT/CLT/ATL/PHI So I guess its who you talk too.

The pension people were and have been in CLT for the past three days, and have stated quite clearly the pension will cease if the ibt wins. The IAMNPF will not accept any contributions from US for the Mechanic and Related employees and their benefits will be frozen.

The IAM and the IAMNPF has stated this over and over the ibt supporters on the floor who think they are lawyers and pension experts claim otherwise and they are wrong.

TRAVIS

On your signature it says "Do not vote AMFA. Just ask NWA." Do you mean NWA management or NWA mechanics, because nearly all the guys we ever see posting from NWA mechanics say they don't regret getting AMFA and don't care for the IAM, TWU or IBT?

Isn't it true that the head of the TWU asked the head of the IBT to "raid" the mechanics at AA?

So here you are telling mechanics at AA to "ask NWA", which normally would mean management at NWA, about AMFA, and to pick who the head of the TWU picked to be the new union for mechanics at AA.

Should mechanics from AA really give much weight to either of these sources when they decide what to do with whats left of their careers? Look at all the disinformation put out from IBT supporters already. Yes the IBT has a lot of money. Yes they spent a lot of money in the last year trying to get mechanics to sign cards but if they are starting off the relationship with lies and disinformation couldn't mechanics keep what they have now and save $300/year?

First, I work with 8 ex NWA Mechanics every day and all of them have a very colorful way of describing the AMFA support and would go with out a union before taking AMFA back in.
Also as for TWU asking the IBT to raid AA, I think that is just AMFA BS to cover for the low card count unless you have proof of this and this is only IMO AMFA makes to many mistakes 1.the NWA strike by giving the company time to put scabs in place. 2. just look at the FAILED filing at AA and the BS (they were caught by surprise). One of these Mistakes lost allot of people jobs and homes and the other shows a lack of common union organizing skills so as far as money goes you get what you pay for.

This was for 1AA just to fire him up for his BS save his pension signature now that AMFA has joined up with the IAM / TWU and are running smear campaigns against the IBT.

NO BS on my part TRAVIS. I did and have been doing my part on the IBT. Your scared that the IAM and the TWU will stay on the property. IBT pensions is the biggest issue theses days with the TEAMSTERS. Your probably a paid supporter or a have a personal beef with the IAM or AMFA or the TWU. My personal feeling is that there will be no vote at AA. If there is a vote the AMFA write in choice will be used. Enough AA guys here at AA know all too much on the corrupt teamsters. We want to see the TWU go and do not want another or worse union like the Teamsters to take over. AMFA is the only choice for our profession. You need to convince guys at USAir that the Teamsters will not mess with your union pension. Good luck with that. IAM already said that the pension contributions stop if you change unions. My frozen pension is safe for now as long as the Teamsters do not get a hold of it. Most guys here know that and are not voting for the teamsters if a vote should happen. Best of luck over at USAir.

There was a meeting in Tulsa several months back. YES the Teamsters did run a interference drive. Then the Teamsters decided to go with it since they saw cards coming in. Jim Little had a meeting in Tulsa showing his discontent with Hoffa stabbing Little in the back when Hoffa decided to make a run for a representational drive.
AMFA has more cards signed than the IBT filed with. AMFA has documentation to fight the inflated list the company and the TWU support. The Teamsters do not.

I guess you never watched the video The Red Tail. If you did you would have a better understanding of what happened at NWA. I can guess by your comments you did not see the video and are a paid IBT supporter. You do not know what happened here at AA in regards towards the card drives with the Teamsters and AMFA. Your just guessing and spreading lies. Nice job, typical Teamsters _______ ( you fill in the blank)

Wow. Still nothing on an election? ibt/teamsters must be having to fight extremely hard against the largely padded list that the TWU and AA fixed up for the NMB. Thought we would have heard something by now, heck tomorrow will be 5 weeks and counting. Anyone have anything on how things are going?

No news is good news. That all depends on which side of the street your standing on. My opinion is that the Teamsters are having a difficult time challenging the list. You also have to consider how many signed cards the company has challenged and if the Teamsters have documentation to fight it at both ends.
Five weeks may be normal for the NMB depending on the size of the list and all the challenges and protests filed.

You don't see anyone from the TWU disputing it do you? Not even Overspeed, Reality Check, CIO or NYER.

Several sources have reported that the head of the TWU admitted to it and he felt as if the IBT stabbed him in the back. There is also a letter floating around signed by Jimmy Hoffa where he says flat out that they were not interested in the mechanics at AA, its not that old either, yet the IBT now claims that they started the drive because mechanics asked them to. Well which AA mechanics went to the IBT? The IBT went to them, not the other way around. Why the change of heart? Could it be that it was a dispatcher that went to the IBT and his name is Jim Little?

Good post and it represents the feelings of all but just a handful here in PIT that I know of. Status quo until we see if we combine...... then full steam ahead.

And yes the pension issue is the greatest concern.

And yes, we're just as divided !!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to our world.
