CHARLOTTE, NC -- A flight from Madrid, Spain to Charlotte, North Carolina was diverted to Boston Logan International Airport. This happened on Saturday around 11 a.m. According to Kathleen Bergen, FAA Spokesperson, the U.S. Airways flight 749, a Boeing 767, was diverted after smoke was reported from the cockpit. None of the 192 passengers were injured but four flight attendants were taken to the hospital for evaluation. Several calls have been placed to U.S. Airways however there is no word yet on what caused the fire or how long delays were. The flight has landed safely in Boston since the reported emergency. The Boeing 767 plane has been taken out of service to be evaluated.

Already been talked about here. http://airlineforums.com/topic/51422-rio-flt-800-fumes/page__st__16

Oh it's just the crew wanting a contract. We all know that right? Fix the G'damn airplanes. Damn it already

also flight 1209 PHL-SXM diverted to BWI today after a lightning struck somewhere around the front of the right wing. As of 1230 today when I left work the 757 ETOPS aircraft had a scheduled dept time after MTR was 1330 dont know if it left bwi yet

It's all a conspiracy against US Airways.

You know them damn pilots just flew right into that lightning storm on purpose.

...no passengers complained of any problems."

What I find very odd is that 4 flight attendants went to the hospital, but no passengers. Anyone remember the old German skit in Laugh In. "VVVeeeerrrryyyy interrrrestting," and the other German goes, "Ya and vvveeerrry stuuuuupid tooo."

It's very obvious the east is playing games.

Are you kidding me?

Here's an e-line from AFA earlier this year.

In Memory of Hazel Bennett

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the loss of one of our members, CLT-based Hazel Bennett. Hazel started with US Airways in 1989 and during her time with the company earned the respect and friendship of those she flew with. She died unexpectedly on March 10 after a respiratory illness.

We know that Hazel and her crew were exposed to oil fumes on August 29, 2010 which made her very sick and sent her to hospital upon arrival. It is not clear to what degree that fumes exposure contributed to her ill health. We are in contact with her family to learn more but want to be respectful of their need for privacy at this time. When we learn more, we will inform you because we know that so many of you knew and loved Hazel, and are searching for answers at this time. We grieve the loss of Hazel and continue to fight for the living to ensure measures to prevent exposure to oil fumes on our aircraft at US Airways and throughout the industry.

In solidarity and with condolences-

The US Airways Master Executive Council
AFA-CWA

VAflyGal, you know as well as any east employee what this management team is capable of, they could care less about any passenger and especially an employee, they will lie, cheat or do anything to cover up this mess!!

P.S. - This is the same plane that diverted from GIG. Have you read the SER?
Get over your pilot war and have some damn respect for the people, passengers and crew alike, who have been permanently affected by the half-ass maintenence done around here.

Seriously? You easties are pathetic. You reach and you reach.

Billy Mays died soon after the accident in TPA. How much did that contribute to his death? We responsible for that too?

Give me a g-damn break.
