U.S. Airways tanks across the pond

okay I am a proud westie...but this has nada to do with work groups...it has to do with the poor managment team....there was a time I was embarrassed to work for HP...we got through it over several years....now I am back to where I started--embarrassed to work here...we are one now and it is not gonna change...I have embraced this fact...I have extended my hands to all fellow co-workers...helped all commuting non revs....parker promised us job security and that was his main reason for doing this...........
do you feel secure in your job??? I don't!! Do you think we will be around few years?! I am now having to face the job security question....BTW did tempe ever respond to the USA today article???
Your candid response pretty much reflects the attitude of all the WESTIES that I have encountered......you like your jobs (as do most in the East) but being put thru the wringer by Management Teams that have NO RESPECT for their employees or considerate of their customers. An airline is a CUSTOMER SERVICE driven operation. As an airline you either DELIVER or you cease to exist. There have been been MANY Good airlines that have passed into extinction (PanAm,Braniff,TWA and even Eastern). USAirways (old/new) is like a cat with NINE LIVES.........that b*tch has been run over, trampled, kicked and terrorized like no other. WHY.....who knows. All I can say is every CAT meets it's end......THE EMPLOYEES are NOT THE PROBLEM, it's THE MANAGEMENT, and EVERYONE KNOWS IT!

And now the lazy BOD needs to clean out the litter box, er I mean sand box in Tempe and give them all their walking papers.

KAO -- True, the job security we had post 911 is gone now. Like when ops moves to PIT in 2009. Its all over then. I would have rather stayed at the lower west wage and still have a job than this.

Good points. This cat needs a break!

Just a handful of Newark departure stats from 6/15 - 8/15 for CO. Maybe Joe should have done a comparison of ops at other NE airports since weather has been pretty brutal in late afternoons, thereby affecting an entire region. Not to defend US, but it'd be interesting to see how the two airlines stacked up since EWR and PHL are often affected by similar weather.

to LGW:
#18 - 40% ontime
#28 - 38% ontime
#114 - 37% ontime

to CDG:
#54 - 55%
#56 - 41%
#138 - 35%

to FRA:
#50 - 43%

to MAN:
#20 - 38%
#100 - 42%

to AMS:
#70 - 58%
#102 - 69%

to MAD:
#62 - 66%
#144 - 72%

You are overlooking the most glaring problem. Once the plane is boarded and takes off USAir loses out to every major carrier taking people overseas. Bad service in-flight, bad appearance of aircraft, and crews that cannot speak the language of the desitination?????? Just an embarassment.

Yes and as a customer I would like to have a primary carrier who had more then a passing relationship with the concept of on time performance.
So choose an airline with better on-time performance as your primary carrier.

The fact that you don't says you don't really care about on-time performance, or at least that on-time performance is far down your list of priorities and USAirways is meeting your travel needs overall.

I'm sure a bunch of these "first time flyers" will book away on their NEXT t/a trip. It's not the same penny pinching crowd as florida or cancun.

Kao....people like you is what this company needs to survive. You apparently care about your job and fellow workers, and belive me there are quite a few on the east that care about the same things....

It was a great article. Guess what corporate communications put on US Daily for yesterday's report? "The US Airways Phoenix Chorus needs voices". No mention of the USAToday piece. They are doing what they always do: ignore it and it will go away.

Notice how all the traditional kiss ups are painfully silent?

Piney, when we went through 2 bk's in Phl, the employees ran the operation. There were only ONE handful of managers on site a day. "We", the employee group turned the company around and they decided to thank us by raping us of almost anything you could think of !

Are you SURPRISED? these sorry *ssed SOB's are so arrogant and ignorant to realize they are THE LAUGHING STOCK of The Industry. This article (and EVERY Bit of it is TRUE) is comparable to kicking Team Tempe in the NUTZ publicly. I have already sent the travel editor a Thank You email for EXPOSING the situation in the mass media. I just wonder how come Neeleman at JetBlue was ousted over what was basically a weather related Meltdown (as if He turned on the snow/ice machine) when these CLOWNS keep preparing for ANOTHER Day of Circus Acts. Only in America........If I had any say in the matter I would MAKE THEM JUMP!

typical...sad yet typical...lets just keep denying that things are so bad.....

jester...my point and question is---Parker had a big conference/meeting when the merger was announced. The room was packed....he promised and stated he was doing this for us--job security. I do not feel secure anymore....when OCC/SOC moves t PIT I will be feeling for all my friends that will be displaced out of PHX....I hope we don;t whine aobut it too much---I have seen firsthand and assist first hand many displaced commuting to work.
And not to change the subjec tbut...anywho...
The unions are all pretty much fighting/grieving how non revs are boarded....grieving the new policy....has anyone thought what this might mean to our commuters???? If all employees past and present keep their DOH for boarding....some if not most of our commuters aint gonna get to work....I talked to a 23 yr commuter....she agreed and never saw it in this light....flights are full....they are barely getting on....most of us working the gates are crossing our fingers for someone to oversleep!!! Anyhow....
I agree we need to stop bickering and focus on the real issue---the management team. So what do we do---call a "town hall" that no one can get too because the flights are full?
