Actually, I think it has more to do with the downsizing of American's STL hub. I'm sure America West's hub discontinuation has helped United, as well as most other carriers at CMH. Recently however, AA has been charging dirt-cheap air fares from Columbus to Denver through St. Louis. I know many people that have opted for the transfer in STL and the lower fare to get to DEN. Now with the pull-down at STL, those cheap connections are no longer available. Also, the UAL flight begins Oct. 31, the day before AA transitions 4 MD-80s on the CMH-STL run to ERJ-140s. At least that's my take on it.
