I too picked AMFA. Why? Simple. Because AMFA is truly democratic from top to bottom. Those who fear accountability and run for the cover of darkness when the light of truth is in view will slander, lie and just plain bad mouth AMFA. But the fact remains... AMFA is democratic and AMFA will stand and fight when fighting is required. AMFA allows every member to become involved in the protection and promotion of our proud craft & profession.

Try THAT with an industrial union!

I picked Teamsters because AMFA is mismanaged themselves. What I mean by that is look at who's running the show? They seems to have no clout, look at their represented carriers, (Alaska, Northwest, Ual) all the jobs are going away. Ual don't seem to respect the mechanic contract, it seems like Ual management do whatever they feel like they want to do at this moment, 777 C check to China since it's there for some kind of service? What? are you kidding me? I feel like giving AMFA another chance but enough is enough I think. Oh well, let's see what happens but to be honest with you, I don't really give a #### who wins...I just wanna say I voted.

We will find out tomorrow, but I think you made a bad decision.

What will really pi$$ me off is having to buy new ‘T’ shirts but at least there will be beer and pizza after meetings.

Might as well get hammered and fed while taking it up the yazoo.

Take Care,

I predict decertification...for your sake, I hope I am wrong Tech.

ual747mech,

Okay, let's look at the airlines AMFA represents. Alaska, Northwest and United, plus the other airlines they represent but you did not mention. I see airlines that REMOVED their exhisting INDUSTRIAL unions for a CRAFT union. Not the other way around. You can make an honorable mention for American Airlines but those pesky dead people added to the eligibility list, along with all the other commical insertions, simply played havoc with the democratic process. But I am sure you know all about that.

"All the jobs are going away", well, it was because of these INDUSTRIAL unions BEFORE AMFA was certified that allowed such language to be inserted. AMFA inherited this cinderblock necklace compliments of INDUSTRIAL unions. You are correct that ual doesn't respect their skilled AMT work force. So going back to an INDUSTRIAL union will prevent this lack of respect? Don't bother preaching about the afl-cio power and clout they carry.

Your post is the reason you face the problem you do. Let's see, ""I don't really give a #### who wins", and "I just wanna say I voted", if AMFA does get decertified you deserve it. But please, for once think of your craft and think of the big picture. If you don't give a ### then fly on another airline because some guy with a name you can not pronounce will be repairing ual jets. But when you are speeding at around 500 MPH you would'nt give a ####.

AMFA will win this election. Why? Because there are other professionals who do give a ####.

IBT wins.

IBT wins

Dear AMFA Members at United Airlines:

The National Mediation Board’s Representational Election has concluded at United Airlines (UAL). The result is that the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) received the most votes and will be certified as the bargaining agent for the Class and Craft of Mechanic and Related at UAL. AMFA will always support the right of workers to choose and we wish our departing membership at UAL the best of luck with their new direction. The Teamsters have made many promises and guarantees of results due to their size, power, and resources. The campaign is over and it is now time to see the Teamsters turn their promises into action.

AMFA extends our appreciation to the members, representatives, and officers who have worked relentlessly since 2003 for their peers at UAL. The UAL membership can be proud of the many challenges that were met head on and the accomplishments you all took part in during a historic period of turmoil in the airline industry.

AMFA will continue our 45 year quest to create the largest and most effective craft union for aviation mechanic and related workers. To our former United Airline members, we wish you well and hope that the Teamsters live up to your expectations. Stay safe and look out for each other.

Respectfully,

Steve MacFarlane

National Director

AMFA did not add the dead and the terminated to suborn democracy, only Unions like the TWU do things like that. To their credit, the AMFA National issued a statement that respected the wishes of the voters.

Teamster Statement On UAL Win

From the Teamster Statement:
"...United Airlines mechanics overwhelmingly chose the Teamsters Union as their collective bargaining representative by a vote of 4,113-2,631, the National Mediation Board announced Monday."

Now we get to see what the Teamsters actually deliver.

CONGRATULATIONS TEAMSTERS!!!

The Mechanics never should have voted for AMFA in the first place. You divided the strength of IAM during bankruptcy negotiations and you have found out just how well you were represented by AMFA. No matter how much you dislike a union, there is strength in numbers. I hope now that IAM is voted in, the IAM will go to Congress and recommend that management contracts be voided and renegotiated in a fair a equitable way. No one needs that kind of money. Tilton already has a lucrative pension from Chevron, he does not need 37 million from United.

"No matter how much you dislike a union, there is strength in numbers." Spoken like a true industrial unionist.

You want to renegotiate contracts? Why? So the teamsters can increase the % of outsourced work? AMFA did NOT divide the iam during bankruptcy. It was the iam themselves that did that. Why would the AMTs remove the teamsters in the first place? Good look to the AMTs at ual. You will need it under the teamsters. Like a previous poster stated, let's see what the teamsters have to offer. Maybe they will deliver on their promises.

HEY, IDIOT: your village wants you back.

UAL M&E Left the IAM For AMFA: the same M&E has now ELECTED the TEAMSTERS not the IAM.

The IAM is a scab outfit due to their negotiations and training by NWA to perform the work of the AMFA while that labor group was in negotiations. Those facts will never change, the IAM is a bunch of SCABS.

At least with the Reamsters, there will not be any arguments about the pesky voting problem.
No more recall of officers either (you don't vote for them anyway).
