US aircraft seating capacity questions

All of the old East 319's (120 seats) are being brought up to the standard of the acquiring company (America West) 124 seats.
I guess this statement was made to get a rise out of the easties? Lets start with UP TO THE STANDARD...I f you call a dramatically reduced seat pitch due to increadsed capacity, and a last row that no longer reclines....UP TO THE STANDARD..Well, we on the East have have much higher standard. The second would be the HIGHLY in acurate...ACQUIRING company..AWA as we all in the industry know DID'NT HAVE A POT TO PISS IN. They could not have aquired a bag of chips let alone another airline, whether in or out of bankruptsy. Anyone with any knowledge of the transaction between AWA and Usaiway's know's that the money put forward for the MERGER, NOT AQUISITION..came from a consortium of 5 investors put together by an EASTIE named Bruce Lakefieild who has extensive contacts in the finacial community..PLEASE STOP MAKING INACURATE STATEMENTS

I am sure there was a need to adopt a configuration that would actually make money, Image that?
Your kidding right? Like that LOVELY configuration they came up with for our A321's, where they now have to make fuel stops..Hmmm, not a money maker there. Or how about all the customers that we have lost to other airlines because those added seats and reduced cabin aminties, amongst other issues make their travel expierience with us a LIVING HELL

Well here is another one. How about the newly added row 9 on the 319. You know the one with 2 seats on each side?? The 1 where there is no lockable recline and the seats are not only "upright" they are pushed forward so that when one of our unsuspecting passengers requests and is given the "exit row" they sit down only to find out they will be sitting in the BRACE position for a cross country flight!!!

What did you do?? Join the forum yesterday just to annoy the hell out of everyone on the east coast? <_<

The configuration you speak of has cost US a fortune in ill will not only from the rank and file but with the consumer. And the consumer rules.

Not only that but there is over capacity. So while other airlines are pulling rows of seats out..increasing seat pitch and comfort...Tempe is cramming more seats into our aircraft and making our aircraft into cattle cars. Not to mention they are now not working up to specs.

And because the east had the much bigger fleet it would have been much more cost effective to have configured the west fleet to mirror the east's. Money, money, money down the drain.

You, my little darling, have been bogarting that pipe too long. 😱

I'd love to know how they justify row 9 on the 319. Has anyone really had to sit in those seats over two hours? It is absolutely horrible. You don't even have slight recline. It is completely upright. NOW this little tidbit. It is my knowledge that the WEST 319/320 have no closets right? Well we now have the "same" seating on the east but there are still mini closets up front of the east a/c. While I'm no Einstein I'd say they made the seat pitch tighter on the east to allow this. YEP they sure brought us up to standards. Oh another one... the 767 is being reconfigured with 18 "semi" flat seats. It was said that the 18 seats needed more stretch space so they needed to go to 18 from 24. Well the new configuration now has an EXTRA 7 seats in coach. It was a decline and not an expansion of the Envoy product. TRASH. PURE TRASH.

Just put the same setup as the 319 up front on the 320 and 321... and fix the exit seats. Have they studied how much revenue they've lost in pissed-off customers or has no one thought of that?

I'm glad you bring this up because I've really been thinking about it and the seats that are there now seem to have a lot of pitch and in my opinion recline pretty far. Basically they are taking out a row of envoy and adding a row of coach. Now if we look at the hack job on the airbus I can only imagine what the "new row 4" is going to entail. The way this outfit operates I can only imagine the lack of legroom. That seems to be the one plane through everything that has maintained its comfort.

LOL, That little gem came to mind after i posted, thanks for adding it...The list is so extensive bits and pieces slip my mind after the second glass of RED..LOL

Anyone in maint dept know when the first 767 is slated for Pimp My Plane? It keeps getting pushed back but thought it was this month or next.

I can't wait to see the newly reconfigured Embraer planes operate out of Key West...

We were SSSSOOOO proud to watch the 1st MidAtlantic-USAirways E170 land there... everyone at the airport kept saying it would be IMPOSSIBLE to take all 72 passengers and all bags out of there.

Captain A proved them wrong, with a smile too 🙂

2nd flight out of Key West, we took 118 bags and 72 pax. Delta cancelled a CRJ-700 to ATL and the other one took off with 65 passengers and NO bags.

Now with the new configuration and the E175s going down there starting this month, it will be interesting to see the restrictions to CLT AND FLL....
